Does loot picked up in solo disappear in shared progression?

So say I go and pick up a weapon from behind one of the pilgrim's perch doors While playing on my own. The next time I connect with a friend with shared progress session. Is that weapon going to be there for him or disappear.

Does that depend on who the host will be? So If I pick up the weapon and host will the weapon disappear from his world?

Not sure if related, but when went to pick up wilmark's catalyst. I healed the NPC and was able to get the item. However, the co-op guest wasn't able to pick it up when we went back the item had disappeared from his game too and it wasn't in his inventory either. Yes we were playing shared progress because everything else worked as it should.
