is this free in my account because one of my friends has it? or is it just free to everyone?

The co op thing is free.

You can download the game, play the tutorial, and join a friends coop session for free. Anything else you have to buy the game.

you cna play the tutorial for free.
you can also join anyone who has the full game in cooperation mode.
as long as you join a Host who has the full game, you can tag along for the entire game. only issue is: some things dont work in coop. you wont be able to turn boss"souls" into Boss items, level up your "estus" or have any of the progress outside of character level and gear/inventory be saved.
