ds4 doesn't work despite it caliming nativre support

my dualshock 4 works fine in every other game, even ones that claim no support. nothing happens in this game at all when i hit any buttons. the only way to get it to work is to enable steam input resulting in stupid ecks bocks buttons which is unacceptable. what's the deal here??

I have exactly that gamepad and it always worked from the get go (I dont use any external program to make it work, I just connect it and game recognizes it).

Dont know what could it be, if faulty USB cable or faulty bluetooth or what but the dualshock 4 works fine here.
