I'm shocked this game is still so buggy
I'm really surprised to find the game in the state it's in. I saw the 2.0 update. "Definitive Edition" they call it. Over 50 updates since release. All new shared progression coop. People praising the developers everywhere for how well they've supported this title. This sounds exactly like what I've been waiting for to dive into this game!

First thing I notice upon starting up the game is how all over the place performance is. Frame rate kind of jumps up and down. Micro-stutters are constant. I vaguely remember complaints about this from when the game launched but surely a year and a half later with over 50 updates that would have been solved, right? Apparently not.

Next I try to figure out how to join my friends game in shared progression mode. It's so unintuitive that I have to come here and search the forums to figure it out.

Now that I'm finally in playing the game with my buddy we are having some fun. The performance isn't great but I can fight through that. But then bug after bug starts popping up and I'm just flabbergasted that the game is still like this after so much support and work has supposedly been put into it.

For one, the netcode seems awful. I'm constantly seeing my partner walk off cliffs or into walls and suddenly snap back to where they actually are. I see enemies that I'm trying to hit and seemingly nothing is happening only to see them teleport a second later to somewhere else. Bosses skip across the arena and suddenly I'm hit with an attack that had no animation before it landed.

I routinely find myself trapped behind moth doors that my partner does not see and is able to walk through.

I've had my character stop animating and just slide across the ground. It took getting hit to knock me out of this state.

I had an issue at one point where my character would not pull themselves up to the top of a ladder and so when I got to the top I would fall back down. Every time I tried to climb it this happened. My friend finally got far enough away from me that it teleported me past the bugged out ladder and the very next time we hit a ladder the same thing happened again. We had to intentionally die to get my ladders functional again.

One time we found a merchant and when I tried to open either the buy or sell menus it instead opened my display settings. This is the one that finally made me come here and write something about it because that bug is just so ridiculous. How does that even happen?

Overall I'm really sad the game has turned out this way. I'm one of the people that was hyped about the advertised "seamless coop" when the game was being shown off pre-release. I was let down when the game came out and I eventually found out that "seamless coop" just meant that it's got a lower barrier to entry than a typical Dark Souls game. You still didn't get shared progression, you got less currency while the coop partner, certain items you couldn't pick up. It turned out there were quite a few seams. Essentially this "seamless coop" was just the same as any other souls title where you can join for a fight or two but you are not actually meant to play the whole game with your friend.

Finally, actual seamless coop gets added properly and I get hyped once again only to find the game in a pretty terrible state despite a year and a half of post launch support. I'm seriously shocked by this.

For me since the release of 2.0 version start to run smoother than before. But lags inside the Skyrest are much more noticeble. Still never met bugs with UI during interaction with a merchant.
So... game become better for me. Still love it=)
I agree, I do not own the game personally but at the request of a friend is trying it with him as he owns the game, but the amount of stuttering as you play co-op is insane, easily one of the worst experiences I've had with multiplayer in the last 8 years.

I decided to give it a shot today and compared to the Day 1 its definily better, not as great as I expected but its playable at least. My worst nightmare was the lag and stutters back in the day, there was 3 areas that it run like ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ and today is actually not that bad, not the 60 FPS smooth kinda deal but playable at least.

I still have faith for the Devs, they could just give up and run away with the money but they are still trying to improve the game to this day, its bad that this game need a good beefier PC since Unreal 5 is absolute trash in performance but yeah.

You say it's not 60fps smooth but the funny thing is, I'm always above 60fps, it just feels like crap. Doesn't feel like a high framerate at all due to all the stutter. I do agree it's great the devs have continued to support the game but at the same time what have they been doing exactly? Just adding additional things instead of fixing existing issues? I know the 2.0 patch mentions they've had over 50 post launch updates and I don't know what all was in those but I would have hoped at least some of them would have been bug fixes and performance tuning.
It's very buggy, problems with ladders, Mothballs blocking your path, holes where you fall into the void below the world, repeated connection failures that prevent you from joining your friend's session.... this is terrible, impossible play
^^^ "... impossible to play" - I have finished it 3 times now. Weird.

Shared progression coop is completely broken, it's a known issue, devs are aware... but it's a new feature so the previous 50 updates you mentioned came before it existed. Give them some time to hopefully get this new feature working right. Disappointing they released it in this state at all, though.

I think there's some workaround people are using to play normal coop with semi-shared progression, and they have to dupe and drop some items for eachother. Not sure what the steps are for this but its on here somewhere, ill link it if I find it.

Outside of shared progression coop mode, the game functions pretty well in its current state. I can play smoothly on my 3070 laptop and 3080 desktop. People seem to have mixed results with performance but for me it's good.

I'm having the same issues. Only picked it up to play with my lady. I heard they're trying to roll a patch out asap though, so hopefully that changes soon.

I feel like the coop is the only thing I'm having trouble
I know they're working on fixing it but as a mostly solo player I'm having a silky smooth experience 95% of the time

Bro, no joke.

When I saw all the videos saying 'this game used to be jank but they fixed it', I decided to check it out. Then I get this jank ass game, I just can t imagine how bad it must have been before.

Its fun when it works which is about half the time.
In coop we cant use latters and the game breaks
