Do weapons have unique movesets? Or copy pasted?
Title. Wondering if the game is like its 2014 brother.

For example, a staff in that game had generic moves. The next staff you find also had the same moves, the only difference is in stats and appearance.

mostly copy pasted but there are some weapons with some unique effects and movesets

Each weapon classification, has is own move set, that varies slightly from 1-hand to two handed stance or dual wielding. Some, mainly Boss weapons, have special attacks that can be unlocked.

Thank you both, I do remember some boss weapons in the 2014 game also had special moves, but not many. It might still be worth buying and playing, looks fun

Just for info, this game is nothing like what from 2014, its 100 times better...not perfect, but a nice game

I also wanted to add that each weapon class has like twice the amount of weapon attacks over the average soul game. So ER may have hundreads of unique weapon with special attacks, but its usually juts one fancy move while the moveset is mostly the same R1 spam combos.

In this game you can stance swap at the puch of a button and make up your own combos with unique animations. So while there are less special weapons then say ER, the weapon movesets are very much more in-depth in this game then others.
All weapon types share the same moveset. Just a couple of weapons have unique attacks, but you have to unlock them through tedious quests.

I wish they changed that: just beat a boss, buy it's weapon, do the move for 1 soul charge.

I've played the game quite a bit now, and well, weapons are a bit disappointing. I loved that, for example, Black Knight weapons in Dark Souls had moves that the enemies themselves would use. It was so cool to get for yourself.

In this game I don't really care much about the weapons... but at least the armor designs are cool. Or no, I still care about weapons, but most of them have the wrong scalings, so I have to discard using it. And I can't change the scaling to fit my character...? Very poor customization...

yeah they chose to make a ton of weapons with some stats tweaks instead of less but more "unique" ones you can alter regarding your builds, it works tho but feels a bit hollow, sad because the rune system was perfect to alter weapons, they missed the point. Movesets are nice tho even if some special moves variations were welcome.
