Weapon stats explanation needed

It seems the devs here copied DS3 so well that the weapon stats system is equally mysterious... down to the letter grades associated with character stats (i.e. C- Agi and so on). Unfortunately, I forgot how this worked in DS3. If I'm not mistaken, it indicates if and to what extent a weapon benefits from specific stats, correct?

Could anyone enlighten me how to make sense of this in LotF? Many thanks!

I don't know how much it varies from rank to rank, but those letters indicate how much the weapon benefits from the corresponding characteristic. Some runes can increase this value (the letter turns green).
For example, a weapon that scales in Inferno will do more damage if you have a high Inferno characteristic. Etc.
