Never played or cared for a "Souls-like" game before - do you think I'd enjoy this?
I also don't like dying a ♥♥♥♥ ton and wasting time and I assume that's what souls likes are, their combat and difficulty style - that being said is there an easy mode for this game?

The only Soulslike you'll find that has an easy mode is Rise of the Ronin but that's currently only on PS5.

In general yes you will die quite a bit in these types of games. Enemies (bosses especially) do a lot of damage when they hit you and you don't. The start is usually the toughest time since that's when you're underpowered and low level.

But no. If you don't like dying at on and don't usually play or care for the Soulslike genre then I'd advise against playing this game.

If you're willing to give it a go, it's pretty damn good and if you get it to run smoothly you'll have a blast.

Yeah, its called coop. But as the person above mentioned if you don't care for challenging games find something that suites your skill level.

Souls like has become a very broad term to the point people call everything a souls-like. This game however is 100% a souls-like a kin to Dark Souls 1 that popularized the sub genre.

Think of these games like 3rd person Metroidvania's where your exploring an interconnected world, finding new gear/weapons, slowly leveling up you character, and of course the game is about overcoming a challenge.

As far as an "easy mode"? No this game is souls-like through and through so you either get gud and overcome the challenge with your skill and understanding of the mechanics, or you don't play it.

This is a difficult game for the average player. You will die a lot.
Also, you need to consider:
- Bosses are not that hard but the platforming and enemies together in some areas can be frustrating the first run when you still don’t know what is in front of you. A lot of deaths due to gravity or enemies pushing you off a cliff.
- Easy mode in this game is coop but, If you are the host while asking for help you will be fine, but the guest is going to suffer a massive lag most of the time. Is still possible to play but consider that is going to happen to you if you help other players.
- Also in coop you are going to suffer invasions from other players trying to kill you (this is link to coop and there is no way to prevent it).

I will recommend you “Lies of P”. There is a mod that unlock the easy mode in the game and is only possible to play it on PC. And is a very good game.

Good luck.

well, I didn't know I was going to become a Souls megafan until I played a Souls game. it completely changed my perspective on action games, difficulty, and what makes gaming a rewarding hobby. so… don't have a rigid mindset.

there are no easy modes, just cheesy strats and co-op. but it's pointless to play these games while circumventing the challenge. there's nothing in them that other games don't have *except* for the learning & overcoming adversity. the magic of the first playthrough can only happen once, and if you waste it by effortlessly cruising through the game world, you won't get it back.

Not all gamers play for the challenge.

Not necessarily. I know a lot of players who play Elden Ring for the pleasure of experiencing its worlds and have no interest in the boss challenge. That's what co-op is for.
The same can be applied to Lords of the Fallen or any other game of this type.
This user has not queried anything based on the game challenge.

Same can be said about Dark souls, fact is the games are intended to be challenging. Therefore if they aren't in it for that reason they can play any other game with coop in it.

the game youre looking for would probably be remnant 2
Game was too easy compared to other "souls likes"
and it was designed for coop better with more puzzles and things to explore

Yes, the same can be said about the entire soul franchise. That is why anyone can plan absolutely any Fromsoftware game with coop in them.

If you don't like the concept of Souls-likes I wouldn't play any in the genre personally.

The genre and this game included tend to be challenging, sometimes straight up unfair, and if multiplayer is included usually allow others to invade your world for PvP regardless of your consent. There are no difficulty options, just one intended shared experience for all players.
Senki Aug 11, 2024 @ 2:48pm
Well personally I barely died in this game but I played a ton of similar games before, I would assume people who are completely new would die a lot.

If you want a soulslike with easy mode I think Steelrising has one but last time I checked the game had some big performance issues

Even with coop the game can still be a challenge it doesn't go away, the genre will always be for those who want a challenge.

Again, not every gamer is looking for a challenge and there are still a lot of players like that who play Fromsoftware games. I’m one of them. I stop caring about the challenge years ago and still play those games. To me they are like a walk in the countryside. But is because I made them that way for me. You can always adjust your play style according with your preference. You can make it hard, or you can make it extra easy. Is always up to the player.
