Where the hell are my pilfered coins.
Just played the game in co-op from start to upper Calrath and didn't get a single pilfered coin, we killed at least 5 to 6 bosses and i'm still standing on the start amount.

What gives? Am i missing something?

It depends on the type of boss you face, Rhogar bosses drop hands, Radiance ones drop coins and Umbral ones drop Eyes.

That still counts at least two radiance bosses, Pieta and Percival. Oh, and the scoured sister as well.

Guess i'm just gonna ignore the online play and storm through the game. There's no way near enough players to make earning shrine currency worth the trouble. Especially with current prices.

You can farm them from any Elite enemies.

Oh that's good to know, the info on fextralife for this game is horribly vague.

I understand, maybe it's a bug or something... I don't know. You could try fighting a boss in your partner's world and see if it doesn't give you the extra rewards there too. Maybe these are only given to the companion, I guess.

* I haven't played much online coop, I've only farmed and obtained what I need for trophies, so I don't have a clear idea of how those rewards are given.

I fought the Hushed saint boss in coop in another player's world today, I received the coins. At this point I really believe that only the companion gets the extra rewards.

Yes, unlike the Sun Medals from DS, pilfered coins are given only to to guest.

That is a exceedingly stupid mechanic, just means there's always more people looking to join than to host since who doesn't want their chunks.

You only need 10 of each to unlock the trophies at the altars, I didn't bother farming them for the extra gear. They could improve it, that's true, but it's not essential to appreciate the game... you can enjoy it even without it.

Anyway, if you have a partner to play with, you could alternate the worlds and get some for both in the meantime.

The Host usually summons because he needs help defeating a Boss or a difficult passage. When the SunBro delivers that is his reward. The Host has Progress as a reward, in my opinion that mechanic is okay. I mean what rewards has Elden Ring for a successfull CoOp Session or Invasion? As an example.

In Elden ring smithing stones were easy as heck to get anyways, 13 ancients and 8 sombers per playthrough, you get 4 chunks in Lotf. Still doesn't change the fact that people want those coins more than help with the progress. Now humour the thought that both parties would actually gain said coins, that'd mean more reason to co-op, which would also mean that there would be more people playing online, which would mean there's more people invading and thus keeping the game's now already nonexistent online play somewhat alive and kicking.

Pilfered coins you gain by going into other peoples world and kill a boss there behind a "fog" wall. Having a co-op buddy in your world doesn't give you anything.
Severed hands is a pvp thing.
Umbral Eyes you get from avenging another player, find the lantern use lamp on it, and then find the enemy.
Guess later was added that you can farm specific coins from specific elite enemies, you need to stack a lot of item discovery.

15 pilfered coins per boss killed in some other peeps world.
9 or 27 severed hands per other player killed, consumable usage increases it to 27.
3 umbral eyes per revenge completed.

At the beginning in SEA regions also got 150 online currency per activity completion, now they also get the same amount as we do, because peeps use vpn to get those rewards, basically at best it was 50x difference.

I have no clue why the devs think that the rewards should be so scarce, in terms of how many times you have to do it, and how long it takes to unlock 1 single thing.
Considering for SEA they thought 150 with any shrine was fine, until they saw high usage of vpn, instead of giving everyone the better share, just punish the region who had better rewards, making stuff more expensive, moving some rewards upwards in tiers, but yeah they added for them the consumable rewards.
