I don't know if it's weird, but it makes it less appealing for my friends to join my game, doesn't it?
-He can be revived quite a few times if he dies(even if it can bug sometimes or if he get killed by divine power type monster/boss and you can't rez him), but you, you cannot be revived.
-He will still be there even if you beat the boss or if you die, wich is impossible in souls games without the seamless coop mode
-He can help you if you get invaded
-you get to play with a friend, he can farm without risk for as long as you want.
-He can buy at shops whatver inventory you have unlocked. This means he can continue on his own game solo/with you if you want and still do shopping in your game for tailored gear.
now imagine that (friend) is someone you are planing to play the whole game with, from start to end ! they will be levels below you for the whole game which is discouraging and in my case, its the only thing that`s stopping me from getting the game.
Most souls games plays the same which is fine, but when the game is advertised with SEAMLESS COOP you shouldn't be facing those hiccups.
xp is something like "souls", if you die you can go pick them up, but if you die another time (after your death in darkworld) you will loose them as the souls games. Meaning you will probably die sometimes and loose your souls, maybe less if you play in easy mode, while your friend will never loose his xp.
-I beleive the souls gain for coop players is the same in souls games, elden ring included
-You have to consider that there are shops and vendors, and depending of your build, you can spend quite a lot in ammunitions, spells, weapons, mana and health consumables...depending on your choices, your friend could be more leveledup than you are if you spend it all. It depends of your ressources management.
If you see it like this, it's not a hiccup, it's a game balance since you will most likely die and lose or spend your souls in a different way than your friend who will never loose them and steadily progress."seamless coop" means simply that your friend will stay with you until you kick him out or there is a connection error, like the seamless coop mod for elden ring.
Hope that helps !
