Yeah it’s how it works in this genre, first time?
Played Remnant 1 and 2, was hoping this would be similar.
Nah, those are barely soulslikes with guns, play ds1-3
Those games are fun to help people defeat bosses. It has been a while because I played them on PS3. Started with Demon's Souls. There was always something holding the co-op back. One game it was your current level. Another was your total souls level, whether you lost them all. It was a punish mechanic or maybe something else.
I guess my point is one of my favourite things to do was help people defeat bosses. I also left myself open to be summoned in for help in PvP in any game I could. Lords of the Fallen so far I am just not synced with the host.
I get why that wouldn't be fun for many. For me it was just about the co-op challenge. I do not mind playing these areas over and over. I am a weirdo who gets joy from it. If there is sync issues with host, then I suppose with that and what you said, what draw does co-op even have? Still wondering what the devs were bragging about with their co-op that is somehow so much better than Fromsofts. So far all I seen was they let you que for co-op at rest areas and there is no real control of what content you are about to do. I qued up at one boss and ended up at a boss I never even fought. Souls games you put down a sign where you want to be summoned at. Feel like this dev team is gaslighting..
Seems from what I saw in my couple hours played and what I have read about LOF, game is really more a single player game where people co-op occasionally on bosses. Wish it had been more like Remnant series which was a perfect balance for us of epic looking and sometimes difficult bosses and a balanced co-op game experience. When you have a crew of 4 people that like to co-op games together, its hard to find difficult ones that also let you balance your power levels well to each other.
I hear you. I can't even get friends to play this.. None are into these types of games like I am. I got my brother to play through Elden Ring, though. I will of course finish it because it does a lot of stuff I enjoy. I will deal with the co-op and adapt. When i originally made this post I was not enjoying it as much as I am now. I will overlook the flaws because the story, customisation, reward and combat has me hooked.
It is a shame there isn't more challenging co-op games. We barely get anything. Hopefully Elden Ring and Remnant is a big wake up call to game developers. I get bored of the easier games quickly. I want the difficulty to be intended. Not some difficulty sliders. I want that hand crafted difficulty experience that still feels at least 80% fair - I can work with that. I hope in the future we get way more co-op games like these that work well as far as desync, connection, balance, loot, roles, etc.
Darktide has been a good co-op game, especially if you have enough buddies to fill a whole 4 man group and even more so if you like Warhammer.
I never tried that game. The whole Warhammer scene kind of throws me off. The name everything after that. In one hand they are feeding their fans, but in the other they isolating the player-base. I just never wanted to put my energy into figuring out what it all means. I will definitely look into that game.
Getting more annoyed with the co-op in Lord of the Fallen too. Input lag and casting heal spells twice. going into combos I never wanted, with no option to animation cancel, because my inputs are lagging behind a couple seconds. Looking like a fool in co-op. Cause some NPC does a freeze spell and somehow this crap tracks me and hit me anyways, despite the patterns. Talk about cheese mechanics. This game is about memorising fantastical attack patterns that aren't grounded in the senses.
Lord of the Fallen is a game that should have been launched into EA. Imagine coming so close to the finish lines and falling right on your face.
