Performance gets significantly better once shaders or whatever finish generating. Even though the game seems to do some lengthy generation at first startup, ingame you will have pretty harsh performance until it finishes.
I've cleared my graphics card shader cache a couple times though and it takes roughly 10 minutes of just idling ingame before the game becomes silky smooth 90+fps.
My plan is to just abandon the game. Maybe some day I'll feel like starting over, or maybe someone will make a program that fixes save files like they did for elden ring.
If they actually took the time to rework the mechanics and overhaul things (like have more enemy diversity, which is doubtful at this point), this game would probably be received better by players.
Personally, I think they should literally drop everything they're doing or plan on doing (like the whole live service game model content roadmap crap, which is incredibly odd for a Souls-like btw), and just focus on the game's technical state. They probably should have kept this game on the Unreal 4 Engine, which would have alleviated 90% of the game's current technical issues.
Loading screen before main menu lags to all hell
I roll into a wall when engaging the very first enemy and get stuck inside the wall forcing a quit to main menu.
More laggy loading screens.
Yes, the perfect game.
Keep playing, you'll see why it falls short. It's by no means bad, but its far from perfect.
It's insane that this is still a issue. They keep wasting resources with these bull**** events to try to bring back players instead of fixing day-one bugs.
It has so much potential but I feel they missed the mark on what makes souls games fun and I have tried multiple times to play this game but it just leaves me feeling annoyed.
I would be playing it for hundreds of hours if they kept the world and ambience exactly how it is but completely overhauled the combat feel and the enemies.
I hope they do try again as this was so close but the combat and annoying enemies make this a real slog imo and it's such a shame as they did so much right here
I thought the bosses I have done so far were a bit meh but I don't have much of an issue with them. I just find the combat to be lacking but I could actually go with that if it didn't have the incredibly annoying ranged enemies and enemy spams. I gather people play tested this so I surprised they didn't realise that a lot of this makes for incredibly annoying game play.
Honestly, if they pretty much kept their own graphical style but did a shameless copy of your average DS1, DS3 or ER enemy I would be totally down with that. I get into the game and I absolutely love the really dark and sinister Gothic Victorian era ambience that gives me DS3 vibes... then 10 minutes in the enemy encounters irritate the hell outta me and I cant keep playing.
Like I say, they go so much right here but in my opinion, the stuff they got wrong really ruins the whole experience
Tell me you have no idea what makes a good souls game without telling me you have no idea...
Easy block, 1 game account making stupid comments to farm jesters.
Can't figure out how you may have survived Blight town or the whole Ringed City which are way more annoying than any average encounter in LOTF balolz
You are proving everyones point here.
Exactly. I don't think the throwaway account Andy is worth listening to, so I just blocked as they tend to just be trolling accounts anyway
Undead burg, Anor Londo, New Londo Ruins, Sen's Fortress, the Catacombs, Tomb of the Giants, Ariamis, I'm wondering if you people ever played DS1 (just to mention a few locations filled with ambushes and gank squads) or just buy achievements on ebay lol.
