lotf has a lot of mass where it couldve had more class.
that and the devs nerfed all the good builds. i think they wanted to compete with d4 on who could release the worst patch of the century.
umbral isin't well done, the amount of times you spend 2 minutes in front of ANOTHER FREAKING BRIDGE dealing with the terrible lock on that decided to lock onto the ten umbral trash mobs that only spawn behind you, that force this rushed speedrun thru umbral. it doesn't feel good. the amount of players i co oped with that were literally pissing their pants every time they went umbral, was unreal.
these are not enjoyable game mechanics.
Take the huntress mob, I thought her boss fight was very fun and added some interesting elements to combat, like zone denial and implementing dynamic environmental moves. Then they implement it slightly further on, only throw in an abbess for range support, forcing you to evaluate and prioritize: go for the range nuke, or the close quarters trapper. It got even more interesting with red lanterns involved, as the difficulty spike when the abbess is buffed is pretty extreme.
So I actually like them using minibosses as mobs later on. It's a bit of a reversal of the soul's formula, where the mobs teach you the zone's boss mechanics (anor londo using a lot of paired enemies to teach you how to prioritize and seperate mobs to prepare for ornstein and smough, the black knights emphasizing parrying to prep for gwyn, etc.). But still, I didn't hate it, as the mob designs themselves were pretty well done mechanically, if a bit routine after a while, but that again comes from a lack of mob diversity. Frankly, I hope that in DLC they will add more mob design and give each area at least 2 or 3 mobs unique to that zone.
And for Orius' sake, more monsters/fantastical mobs, no more humanoid mobs!!!
The tamed the serious same feel in a patch and sorted my stutters and what not pretty early patches, so i m sure that helped. As for the same enemy, it didnt bother me soo much. Same enemy and a little change up was pieta real self Elianne now that was the same moves, altered but in a good way. Now, this game has become one of my favorite and sits very close to Eldin Ring for me. I will buy the DLC or DLCs guaranteed.
