Want to play a game now?
Then buy now.
You've got something else you could do while you wait? Not desperately keen on playing RIGHT NOW?
Then wait.
Mmm, don't think so. Probably the same as now.
I have the game since release, never had an issue. Hovewer that's not valid for everyone, so yoy should try it for yourself. For what its worth i think this game is great.
That's not true, but I do feel that at launch it should have been 50 bucks to begin with and then on sale maybe 30-ish.
Lol, just look at this troll message history. Don't bother.
I agree and also don' think it will go lower next month but, at this point, it's pretty obvious that the game is not a success and despite devs fixing bugs or improving balance and polishing perfomance, the base game design can't change and this is the biggest part of the problem.
Even if there are players that like it, too much design decisions are very debatable. The way the dead/s world works grouping and ambushing you while forcing you to rush, the number of enemies, minions being like mini-bosses everywhere, sniper and ambushers also everywhere, dodge and block mechanics, enemy variety, how confusing can be the environment sometimes when changing from one world to another... One can agree more or less with each of this points, but all are there at negative reviews and all affect how likeable is the game, no matter the tech state of it.
Imho, this can happen when a publisher or a productor with money wants a specific kind of game to emulate another game or kind of game that has been a big success and creates a new studio to develop it (or hires someone to create a new studio only for that) The budget is there, of course, but even with experienced coders and graphic artists, it's needed a person to design the game carefully and sometimes this ends in the hands of "professional game designers" apparently valid for any kind of game depending on what's ordered: a nintendo car racing game, a generic console open world, a classic rpg, a platformer, a harvest moon game, etc. And some games cannot just be copied "more or less", some genres don't support too much experiments on them to try to be original or innovative and in general if what's pretending is a sale success above all, at least you need someone with experience on that specific kind of game.
Imo you can have a big budget but, without a good designer and a good game director... Too many examples of this lately in the "AAA" sector and this year has been full of overpriced "AAA" flops. Also, pricing a game to be "AAA" just because it has a big budget and others similar of the genre had been priced that way can be a mistake if the game don't have the same quality/fun factor/likeability overall, and this can't be bought just with money.
Finally, also, already 34% discount in just a month...says a lot about what really thinks the publisher (which controls the price, of course) about the game's situation and what to expect from the future.
Just my opinion, but some design decisions seem like bad thought for a game pretending to sell like Elden Ring but being a very artificial product without the needed design experience and vision. Imho.
Just some considerations.
This game costs 66 millions, they're AA developer, not AAA.
It sold 10mln copies in the first ten days, that alone make revenue (more or less, calculating a price of 60$) of $28,800,000,000.
I won't say that wasn't a success.
Ps: yeah, refunds are calculated into that (estimated) we don't know how are the sales by now so the revenue is probably much bigger than that.
I disagree on that. I think the vision is there and god bless is not a from software copy paste one.
Lol. Tried your hardass to defend the game won't justify its failure, or to cover your stupidity for paying extra bucks to something far from worth it.
Just check how many familiar faces still left in this forum then you will know the terrible status of this game. Calling others' criticism troll won't help either. The review has already told everything.
Again, I just feel too stupid to pay the full price for buying it. My friend refunded after one hour's play, good for him.
1. There are tons of ppl that do not care about this money. Like myself with 1000+ games on steam and has never asked for any refund.
2. The first a few hours of this game is ok, later you will find the the terrible part of this game, like stacking mobs, repeatedly used models, half-baked bosses and extremely unbalanced pvp, but you passed the timeline for refund.
3. This game has spent tons of money on ads, even medium-level YouTubers got the game for free. This has indeed lured a lot ppl to buy in the first week.
4. Again and again, the reviews told you all. And actually this game has set a very bad example, big ads + first a few hours good experience will block players from refunding the game. Too bad I do not see any solution to this.
It's 1 million, not 10. And i would like to know how many of those sales were pre-orders because the marketing was strong and there was a lot of hype.
As a lot of reviews were saying, the game seems great when you start but after the first hours you start to see the whole view and too many people just stopped completely playing (even after 20-30 hours or more) to leave a negative review purely based on design decisions and gameplay, even if some of those also mention, as a secondary point, perfomance.
I also have seen a good bunch of yoububers or streamers just stopping this game. As usually happens on Youtube, lots of times it's a sudden, silent stop but if the video was recorded from a stream, they problaby stated why there.
For a game that has cost 66M of dollars as you said, i am not sure they have amortized it yet at this point and the chart sales to this day probably seems like the drop part of a roller coaster with a deep descending peak.
It's also important that the number of actual players on Steam is pretty low already.
The point about pre-orders and actual number fo players is important for the continued support and development. If the game simply stops selling or it goes down to an insignificant numer and there are few players playing it, the publisher will send the order to stop development at all.
About the design decisions being bad thought or not, it's not just a personal opinion but a common complaint at too many reviews. As i said, you can agree more or less (or not at all) with any of the above mentioned points that are common at reviews, but you can't deny how many people says the same and ends up with same conclussion. I mean, it's there, at the mediocre ratings the game actual has. I respect that you like the game and it's almost perfect in your opinion, but talking in general, it's not overwhelmingly likeable (and not even mostly likeable) and mediocre ratings affect, a lot, potential future sales.
As i also said, it's very significative that the publisher has already decided to apply such discount at the very first chance they had, even after barely a month after release. That's not a success, if they decided that they needed to do that to sell more it's because they really need it (most probably to continue amortizing the huge costs of the game) and they don't believe that they can continue selling at the OG price, so the perspective for the future in the eyes of the publisher is not great.
So, for a game that need 66M dollars to be made, it's not a success or it would have been able to retain players after just few weeks from release and publisher will still be asking the whole price as many time as possible or perhaps a tiny discount of 10% or so. But if the game is already valued at less than 40 euros...bad sign.
Again, just my opinion seeing the actual state of the game, the number of players, the big amount of reviews i have read here and there, the gameplays is have been watching and the years i am following the videogames pc sector as a player (too many lol since cassette times) Also, with all my respect for those players, like yourself, that enjoy the game.
Sorry dude, my bad, so that's make a total of $2,880,000,000
Still a big success if you ask me.
Not really relevant when talking big numbers, just debatable impressions: some had problems, some not, some are in ng+++, some stopped. Nothing you don't see normally in reviews.
Beside some, i don't take youtubers too seriously, they're tied to monetization when making videos, not really objectivity and will say or play anything their public want or not want to create traffic in the comment section and boost visuals.
I'd say something like $2,880,000,000 have amortized 66M ;)
that's pretty normal, not a "bad" symptom.
We don't know much of the real data here, so these are guesses (valid or not of course)
It a bit early to make an estimation, many people on the contrary like this game a lot, and is out since only more than a month. We could discusse more objectively about that in a year, just look at how cyberpunk transformed his reputation.
We don't know what agreements etc are beyond this decision, not enough information as i said before game sold pretty damn good so far for an AA production.
