Edit: Sorry I was so negative. The game does run at 30 to 45fps with default low settings and dips below 30 only on some graphical moments fighting certain enemies. Setting a preset higher then low the frames will be below 30 a lot of the time. I had to manually set my gpu clock speed to stop the stuttering, probably induced by the recent 3.5.5 update to the Deck. The games playable and fun, sorry again for the negativity.
I can answer your question. Do not listen to ReflexShift
The Steamdeck has been able to play this game since day #1 and very well. I am literally playing on my steamdeck right now to check the exact numbers to write you a response.
The steamdeck gives me FPS in the range of 30s - 40s depending on what's going on in the game and 51 if I am staying still, but for the screen size that is the perfect frame rate and the game looks and runs as smooth as butter and as fluid as water.
The game runs smoooooth, butter smooth. The game looks beautiful at 1280 x 800p.
My settings are:
Resolution: 1280 x 800p
VSync: On
FPS limit: Unlimited
HDR: no
Graphics: auto-detect quality Autoset, and everything is set to low and/or off.
I also love how I can close the game on my PC and my game is instantly updated to the cloud and I can within seconds continue my playthrough on my steamdeck. How awesome is that.
The controls are already mapped out by the developers/valve so the game works instantly as soon as you play it, which is usually the case with steam.
The steamdeck has been able to play this game since day #1 for me.
I have had this game since day #1.
I also tested it on Asus Rog Ally Xtreme since day #1 and it was less stable on that console, and the steamdeck has always been better at handling this game even though it was inferior hardware than the Asus Rog Ally xtreme, which means Valve has an amazing way of doing software optimizations. The Asus Rog Ally xtreme also plays the game perfectly right now.
Cross-play with PC, XBOX, PS5 also works with SteamDeck and Asus Rog Ally Xtreme.
However!
When you connect the Steamdeck to an external monitor you will not enjoy the game as much. It appears the steamdeck struggles to output this particular game to an external monitor and you will experience the FPS drop to the 20s after the deck gets hot enough (from working overtime to output the video out to the monitor) and the game will be much less enjoyable, although still playable.
Conclusion:
The Steamdeck runs LOTF2 perfectly smoothly as long as you play it portably so the previous commenter is lying through his teeth. This deck can handle the game perfectly and it is a total pleasure to play this particular game on the go. The game looks beautiful on this deck and I am sure it would look more beautiful on the new OLED Steamdeck, which I may get later. It is amazing to play this game on my PC and then take it on the go and keep doing whatever it is I was doing. That is amazing. But remember about connecting it to a monitor - after some minutes your FPS will drop to the 20s and the game will be less enjoyable.
Good luck.
You are lying.
You probably installed it on a garbage SD card.
The game plays 100% perfectly butter smooth and as fluid as water for me on my steamdeck.
You must have the wrong settings buddy.
LOTF2 runs perfect on steamdeck on the settings I listed above and the game looks beautiful even in my non-OLED deck.
Stop lying.
hes not lying. after the recent update i cant even get past the start screen.
I really like this game and have played through it 4 or 5 times now, it just doesn't run well for me on my SD
Edit: Well I have to say I set a manual gpu speed of 1400mhz and it ran better 35 to 45fps in most areas I played. Still it wasn't smooth the whole time but better, maybe I'm expecting too much. My default clock speeds must have not been boosting properly because the game was a stuttering mess. Sorry for the mix up. I think I was just frustrated with it stuttering and my initial post came off too negative. I apologize for that.
Yes the good thing about this soul games they save like every minute or so it seems so i never lost any major progress i guess it thats why it hasn't so much really bothered me
Finally, somebody confirming that the game runs beautifully on steamdeck today, just like it did on day #1.
Well he was as the other posters here have confirmed the game runs great for them.
You and the other liar must be using cheap SD cards. Try playing it from your deck's internal drive and play w/ the game settings. The game runs perfect.
