Maybe you guys should go play Lies of P. Or go play Elden coop mod.
Its probably more your style. Or super mario. Or Yoshi's Island.
Or play a Pinball game, there's no invasions in that.
YOU CAN DO IT!
Invasions are only optional the moment you play offline, otherwise are not. Coop\pvp are core mechanics as you can see in every shrine you can help a friend, summon someone to help you, or invade someone. Its not really some side content\optional unless you choose to disconnect from the game. You can also use mirrors to avoid invasions.
Of course people grow tired of this continuois complaining (not yours, i speak in general) that the game must meet everyone taste, because it's not. Lies of P for example is an excellent game without pvp of any sort.
No, this is false.
"Core gameplay element" = unavoidable, by any means.
Going offline = disabling multiplayer in its entirety.
If MP/coop/PvP were Core gameplay elements", the game wouln't even allow offline play
i have no idea what's a mirror use in this game. It must be similar to DS2 Human effigies, which could be used to temporarily pause the game from throwing invasions at you.
Once gain, a mechanism to make you "pay a price" to avoid unwanted game modes.
Borderline bad game design
it's not about making every game cater to everyone. Just make a controversial mode like PvP being avoidable by default. It won't hurt anyone's Ego.
There are ton's of way to balance out a co-op game mode, without bringing in "human factor" which is borderline undesiderable in many cases.
But we do want to make it optional, so the game gets better for everyone.
Solo and coop players can play the game without risk of being griefed and harassed.
And invaders can invade people like them who have opted in, people who are specced and prepared.
The opt-in option does not change the player base for invasions in any way, because you either get kicked by solo/coop players, or you get connected to someone like yourself. The opt-in option allows you to enjoy quicker matches by only matching you with people who enjoy invasions. The opt-in option does increase the player base for solo/coop play, because there is no risk of being griefed and harassed.
This is literally a win/win/win option, there are no downsides. It is the best for everyone.
Sorry to burst your bubble guys but PvP never gets any justice in souls games and even if a dev team puts some effort into it it's a waste of time because it ends up dead in the gutter anyways.
In short, this won't be your PvP heaven, no soulslike ever will.
Put it how you want, its still a core mechanic of the game.
that's how the game work. Before buying a product it is always a good idea to check if it meet your tastes.
Just play another game and save your money.
Lmao, the game's thought and development vision is so clear about Online, it takes only a "set offline mode" choice to invalidate your entire point (with the game still allowing offline people to play!)
I still have to see a soulslike, with MP/PvP, that disallows offline play. This is the only case i'll respect the "PvP is now a core game loop" aspect of the game.
Half measures like these will only continue to cause community infights and lots of jester awards on both sides.
*Yawn* this won't make people uninterested in PvP wanting to give PvP a shot.
Or learn the ropes of PvP mode in games that rewards only sweatlords and griefers.
Even Fromsoftware itself added a way progress Varre's PvP quest offline in Elden Ring.
Or MP being a standalone thing in AC6.
1:at start like me some people not like pvp. we play the game for pve or multiplayer
2: people say play offline. but disable pvp is kinda same just that it not lock us out of some things. we still can help other with pve . speak it make zero sense to offer go offline but not can accept a turn off button for this extra. in the end this kind of people would never accept or want pvp ever.
BAM, point invalidated! NEXT.
And...?
Oh, i thought we were discussing about a toggable pvp option in a online session.
Then problem solved, you can play the game without invasion right away.
You literally know nothing about the genre. Invasions are a core mechanic of this genre type. Go play another game.
