What is the point of umbral weapon
I mean the magic buff, as far as i can see you get same amount of damage as poison but its wither instead of physical and you then get no status from it.
Am i missing something?

I think because you're dealing more wither, you have more opportunities to trigger an Umbral Finisher without having to soul flay and not accidentally killing your target, which I've heard increases rune drop rates. Dunno if it's a placebo, though, I've done an umbral build and didn't notice a difference.

You open finisher when would kill enemy exclusively with wither damage, thats why soulflay work, but weapon with wither dont, theres eye which changes all light damage to wither which fills that niche.

You can do it with purely weapon wither auxiliary, but it MUST be a fully charged HEAVY attack that leaves wither remaining. This is why the eye that gives your light attacks pure wither never procs the finisher, so it's still tricky to net an Umbral finisher.

I like it quite a bit on Rosamond's sword, just need a second one.

It further increases the wither damage and the weapon has frostbite which can clear withered health.

I get quite a few umbral finishers doing this.

On my second playthrough i played a wither build. Molten crusader sword with Putrid child sword. I hacked through everything very quickly and it was fun.

On my third playthrough i play an inferno build with 2x grinning axe. It does do more damage than the wither build i used.

Unfortunately the most optimal wither weapons are the mushroom pickaxes as poison ticks clear wither damage with each tick.(There are some things immune though)

I honestly hate how they look. They don't match any gear other than basically rags.(they do look accurate to their description though)

Doing this completely prevents the Umbral finisher's for obvious reasons.

Burn would also work. I dont't think a burn & wither weapon is in the game though.(at least that scales with Rad + Inf.)

There is. The grinning axe. It scales only with inferno.

Just keep in mind that even though your weapon does wither damage, you can only Soul crush an enemy if you soulflay them.

Doesn't matter if their hp bar is fully white, you HAVE to soulflay to get that finisher

Try poison weapon, its same damage increase but enemy cant heal it if they strike you back..

Its flat increase based on spellpower not a % so it doesnt matter if weapon have wither or not.

I've compared already I kill things faster currently with umbral weapon.

Poison weapon is 100% better early on but umbral weapon has better scaling. At high spell power poison weapon is obsolete.
