Grievous Wound build?
Aside from a few rings and such, what's a good way to get an enemy into the stagger state.

Perfect Shield blocking actually seems really BAD for it. But I've seen some people use hammers and spells to take off an enemy's entire stagger meter in 1-2 hits.

Whats the best way to get these stagger grievous wound attacks that you all have found?

Id use a dual dagger/short sword build because those weapons have an extended parry window. Additionaly weapons with frostbite deal more poise damage which is ideal for a build like this (my current build uses the bringer of stillness sword which can be farmed from the reapers. I also have the grievous ring which restores health and soulflay with a grievous strike. Try to kick enemies when possible, and keep in mind that the larger the weapon the shorter the parry window.

I did a test earlier, when the patch notes came out that mentioned "Umbral assassin swords now have a +15% crit multiplier on visceral strikes. This makes these weapons more appealing to those with a parry playstyle"

which is weird because there are no weapons called Umbral Assassin Swords, and there's no mechanic called Visceral strikes.

I ASSUMED that it meant the bringer of stillness swords, and Grievous wounds. So I tried it out.

I put "Additional damage on grievous attacks" runes on my +9 bringer of stillness sword, and had an offhand +9 bringer of stillness sword with "extra damage when dual wielding" rune on it

The swords did 2 hits of 550 and 600 respectively on a grievous strike... But my +9 Fungal bowman daggers did 2 hits of 1100...

I think the bringer of stillness weapons are bugged and have REDUCED damage on grievous attacks

Just as a test, I tried it again.
+9 left hand bringer of stillness sword ATK - 295
+9 Kinrangr Dagger (For frost buildup) ATK - 196

3 dual wield runes
1 Grievous strike rune (I only had 1)
2 runes of Reduced Str scaling with increased agi scaling

I have 60 agi
I also used the Ring that deals extra grievous strike damage.

On a Fire Axe+Shield guy (Ruiner?) I dealt 2 hits of 871 (1742 damage) during the grievous strike... Pretty bad

+9 Fungal bowman Dagger ATK - 215
+9 Fungal bowman Dagger ATK - 215

6 Dual wield runes

60 agi
I also used the Ring that deals extra grievous strike damage.

On a Ruiner, I did a grievous strike of 2 hits of 1356. (2712 damage)

That's almost 1000 damage difference.

There is something wrong with the stillness swords.

Have you tested the damage with other shortswords, instead of daggers?

Did you not consider that Daggers have a higher Grievous Strike multiplier?

I certainly wish there was a stat that showed this...

To be honest because of my high agility playstyle I only have daggers and the stillness swords raised up at the moment. But I might be able to farm materials later

Interesting, I do think they may have reduced the grevious strike multiplier for the bringer of stillness swords.

I would def reach out to the devs about this issue, maybe they worded their patch incorrectly or actually meant to decrease the damage.
