While I haven't tried to play this game on my ROG Ally (not sure why it would have to 'come out' for the Ally??), that could be a good point.
I literally just crashed for the 6th time a minute ago. I would crash and restart. This time, I was like screw it...I am done. It's just too aggravating. I almost was to quit the game altogether. I just beat it and wanted to chase the platinum. But I am getting so fed up with the crap performance.
FWIW, I am not not using any launch options. I am using the recommended GFX settings for my PC. I have the most updated Radeon drivers. I would really hate to downgrade since this isn't the only game I am playing right now. I just keep hoping AMD will finally put an update out that helps with this particular game (seems like they would have by now). OR that the devs actually release a patch that fixes the issues I am having...UGH! I really want to like the game. But, damn man...this sucks
It's obvious that the AMD drivers are garbage. But the only thing that happens here is (typical for Steam):
I have the latest driver, other games also work, LOTF and the devs suck. Anyone can complain here, but reading what is written doesn't work.
@op
1200 points for your Posting
I understand the frustration, but did you try the driver I recommended here though? Adrenalin 22.11.2 has not crashed at all for her ever since we downgraded and removed all of the launch options. Would like to confirm if it works for other GPUs.
Yeah, I definitely noticed a lot of posts about the same exact crash errors for AMD GPUs specifically... but I never was able to find a post suggesting to downgrade drivers. Thanks for the insight I can definitely see that.
I too have been frustrated with the UE5 instability with AMD GPU's. I have done some digging and after scouring the internet I believe I have come up with a solution.
Currently I'm running a Ryzen 9 5900X and 6800XT with Windows 11 Home 22H2. Randomly I would crash no matter what I was doing in the game, even worse after recent updates. I too was getting the Direct X 12 error messages and DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_REMOVED.
After some tweaking with settings and doing a complete clean install of 23.11.1 Adrenalin, I have been able to play crash free and getting pretty decent performance for several hours now.
Here is what I did.
1. Unplugged physically all external monitors except my primary from the GPU.
2. In the directory where your game is installed (SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Lords of the Fallen\), I right-clicked on the lotf2.exe and went into the properties. Under compatibility I checked/enabled Disable Fullscreen Optimizations and run as administrator.
3. As I mentioned above I uninstalled Adrenalin and rebooted, then downloaded and reinstalled 23.11.1. On a side note especially on newer AMD GPUs their upgrade path usually causes corruptions and I recommend a clean install of AMD software and drivers. Another caveat I recommend is waiting 2 weeks after a driver release to allow testing and kinks to be worked through before you install.
4. Launched game and set all settings to High as per the auto select option.
5. Left Vsync on and set frames to not unlimited but to my screen refresh rate. (144 Hz)
6. Since I only have a 1080 monitor I left resolution to its native 1080. Also switch from Borderless to regular Full Screen.
7. Everything else is either default or turned off. Especially leave off AMD FidelityFX (FSR3)
In my honest opinion I think Fidelity looks awful and doesn't net you much in performance, but again this my humble opinion on the technology.
I hope this helps as I really enjoy the game. But most importantly I want the consumers of this product to enjoy it as well and not have to be hampered by the struggles of modern day computing and compatibility.
