Deralium chunks are gone
I can't believe what they did to the boss weapons in patch 1.1.282! They nerfed them so hard that they are practically useless now. The damage, the scaling, the effects, everything is worse than before. Why would they do that? Boss weapons are supposed to be rewarding and powerful, not weak and disappointing. They ruined the whole point of fighting the bosses and collecting their souls.

And don't get me started on the deralium chunks. They reduced the drop rate so much that it's almost impossible to find them now. Deralium chunks are essential for upgrading your gear and making it stronger. Without them, you are stuck with low-level equipment that can't handle the enemies in the later areas. They made the game harder, but not in a fun or fair way. They made it frustrating and tedious.

I'm so angry and disappointed with this patch. It feels like they don't care about the players or the game. They just want to make it more grindy and less enjoyable. They should revert these changes immediately and apologize to the fans. They should listen to our feedback and make the game better, not worse.

By far , one of the worst decision a game dev can make. losing progress mid run is beyond irrational

I'm running 2 discovery rings and farming the 2 bulwark knights in Fen and in about 18 runs so far I've had 1 single large deralium ore drop, could just be RNG for me but it seems like it wasn't as bad to farm for these before patch.

its pretty lategame, but right before judge cleric there are 4 abiding defenders, each can drop large shard and some armor pieces for sale.

boo hoo peeps gotta farm 5 minutes longer boo hoo bruh kill 1 boss and outbuy the store and you got unlimited supply of large shards

Well before patch boss weapons required only 12 large shards, now that theyre +10 they require 18 large shards for +9, it was certainly possible to get +5 boss weapon before fief grabbing chunk from forgotten depths, now youll have to go path of devotion to get earliest +10.

Not to mention 4 regulars vs 7 and 4 smalls vs 6, it was simply easier to get decent weapon earlier on and since scaling is based on upgrade you had easier time with pieta despite many later radiant weapons being more powerful.

Noone with a marginal knowledge of the game should ever care about Deralium shards after first 2 hours of the game. Once you kill Congregator of Flesh, you can farm all the shards needed to upgrade your weapons in few decent farming spots.

The only resource that matters in LotF are Deralium chunks because they are finite and very scarce resource. The change introduced in the patch effectively robs you out of 1 Deralium chunk out of 4 if you have already upgraded the weapon to max before the patch.

Also, how can this be explained to PvE players who do not participate in PvP. This change is absolutely mind-boggling.

If this was an issue that low-level characters can wield powerful weapons, certain weapon upgrade tiers should have been level-gated.

I'm on my NG+3 run and not passed Fen area yet but I'll probably just move on and try farming the defenders at this point and hope for better luck there.

Are you stupid or just dumb?

You can not buy Deralium chunks from a vendor. This change effectively cost you 2 out of 4 available Deralium chunks in game if you have upgraded your favorite weapon to max before this patch and want to keep using it even after patch.

Maybe a PvE player was using maxed out boss weapon before patch. Imaginary PvE player do not have any Deralium chunks left because he/she used them on other gear so now they are stuck with +9 weapon for no fault of their own other than playing a game where PvP balance can impact PvE for s.h.i.t and giggles.

im just explaining why this change happened, its literally there about clubbing low lvl seals.
Honestly i dont recommend farming the shard there without runes, without rings and without eye.

This is classic history in these type of games. Always screwing up pve because balance in pvp takes priority. A pvp that half of the players hate or don't want.

If it's because of PVP... why not implement propermatchmaking? >.>
TheDarkSage Nov 2, 2023 @ 4:50pm
I've played this game for 110hours, and had only 1 invasion by another player during my three playthroughs. And after that much time, the dev decides to destroy 6 of my deralium chunks because some people are abusing dervla's crossbow or smth in PvP. Why the ♥♥♥♥ should I care about this? Can someone just explain how can a game dev steel the materials from players?

Because if it takes too much effort, it's not worth the hassle. At least to them.
