That's now a winning situation. It will get stale very quick if an opt in was added. A smaller pool to Invade, longer wait times, it would just be much worse for invaders.

Why not fight against the invader, and force them out of your world instead of disrupting the flow of gameplay and Immersion? I understand some invaders are duping items and such, I can understand the frustration there, I totally do. That does ruin the experience, but not all invaders are like that. I just want to fight whoever comes my way and get the armor, and continue to Invade. I've had great experiences with invading.

One invasion I had two dudes in the fen. One would always try to get the high ground and the other barred me from trying to reach the one with the higher ground. It was a super intense and fun invasion. When people just alt f4 it simply just ruins the experience. An opt in would just make things harder. Invasions aren't bad, some people might be but invasions aren't bad.

And there you have the problem, I am glad you came to the same conclusion; the invasion system just isn't popular and is only being kept alive because it is forced on players. If people could choose, the vast majority would not engage in the invasion system.

You can't force people to do something they do not want or do not enjoy.

The other 3 or 4 invaders are trying to talk around this, but this is the exact point. People are just not interested in randomly being griefed.

You think invasions aren't bad, but your opinion is a small minority unfortunately for you and the other handful of people.

But if you support an opt-in option, at least you would get kicked less and more matches with the same couple of people who enjoy invasions just like you do.

Saying this opinion is the minority is just wrong. Why else would it be still used, over a decade laster since it was introduced? Nobody is getting gteifed, all invaders do is go for a kill. That's not grieifng, if that's considered greifing then the whole game greifs you, wouldn't it?

It is still used, by this game, because it is a carbon copy of Dark Souls. It doesn't do a lot to at least try to be different. People have played Dark Souls, people have played invasions, and people prefer solo/coop without invasions, that's why there are mods that disable invasions and improve coop.

I'm sure you are well aware that Elden Ring has chosen to disable invasions for solo players, and supports a mod that disables invasions for coop too and improves coop altogether.

I choose to play against the monsters, I do not choose to play with you. That is the difference. I do not want to be griefed by you, so I will kick you from my game. There is no way you can force me to be harassed by you or others like you.

If you want less disconnects and more matches, you would do good to support an opt-in option.

I gave up insisting with the guy, let him ragequit as soon as devs allow it. The more people will notify developers about this toxic behaviour, the sooner will take action to prevent it.

There is no rage, only peace, love and happiness. But I can imagine your anger when you get confronted with another disconnect screen. Don't you think it would be better for you and other players like you to support an opt-in option? That way you get kicked less and more matches with like-minded people, win/win. Everybody happy, everybody enjoys the game. No downsides.

I have said it 2 or 3 times by now, but I would love a talk with the developers and I seriously doubt they would punish the use of alt+f4, they are a business and they will not kill off the tiny player base they have left.

In all likelihood, this will be the way it is. Restarting the game and loading in again is ''punishment'' enough, but luckily it barely takes a few seconds with a somewhat decent system.

It depends. Not every game is mod friendly, they often broke the game. And with every update it has to be updated as well. Its a chore, but it seems you like to suffer my friends by playing the wrong game.
