If you want to coop then you are out of luck.
I have yet to experience this
I was doubtful when I heard it myself but they actually do show up with MP turned off.
After getting seeing the shrines at max, I stopped playing in online(unless I'm playing coop) to avoid invasions. I have YET to find a red lantern in my own game while offline. The last 30 hours or more, solo, offline, no red lanterns.
You cant simply come here and demand removal of Invasions, which is a staple of the Souls genre at this point, since way back into Demon's Souls at least.
Elden Ring messed up with the Invasions model and nearly killed PvP in the process, which it never really recovered from.
Name me 3 games outside fromsoft games within the genre that have invasions.(Not Darksouls/Demonsouls/Eldenring)
Obviously this game.
An honorable mention would be the "2D souls-like" game, Salt and Sacrifice.
Theres also worth mentioning games outside of the Souls formula that got inspired by the mechanic, like Watchdogs, i think Dying Light also had something like that.
Anyway, Invasions are part of the experience, and many newbies just come in into these type of games, and cry about getting invaded and then scream for the mechanic to be removed, when they are the ones that bought the game in the first place.
The same happened with Elden Ring and they got ridiculed by the already long existing fanbase.
I did not know Salt and Sacrifice had that, I even beat that game(though much later in its life, so no one might have been playing anymore)
But nothing else? I personally wasnt including 2d, stuff like Grime, Ender Lillies, Hollow Knight. Honestly surprised a 2d had invasions.
I was mostly refering to the 3d games. Like Thymesia, Hellpoint, Nioh 1&2, Surge 1&2, Remnant 1&2, Lies of Piss, Mortal Shell, etc. ALOT mroe gaames in the genre DONT have invasions, or even coop, than those that DO have it. Thats my point
Multiplayer in soulslikes are a rarity, MOSTLY only coming from the creator of the genre, but not many others.
Hellpoint had coop, but no invasions. Hellpoint is 100% my favorite souslike.
