Whether we like Pinocchio or not. Lies Of P has still proven itself unlike Lord Of The Fallen who even refuses to give a demo.
1. No poise, "making heavy weapons useless"
2. Parry window really tight if you want to chain parries
3. Dodge/roll having stricter iframes than DS3
No online, pve or pvp
I'm one of those people who disagrees with these points except maybe the online thing. That's because the game kinda has its own thing when it comes to mechanics (not mentioning them all):
1. Commitment in an attack is a lot more emphasized so you can't just R1 spam.
2. You don't have to chain parries in this game. This game has a mechanic called guard regain in which you take chip damage if you block an attack. This chip damage can be regained as HP if you hit the enemy back. What this does is that it offers a safety net in case you mistime a parry and blocked an attack instead.
3. I dodged a lot of bosses and I never had an issue with iframes. There is no data if the iframes are stricter, but even if it is this game offers you dodge/roll without having enough stamina (there is an item for this).
4. This game offers healing recharge. If you run out of healing, you can recharge this by hitting the enemy back. In other words, even if a boss has full health and you're out of healing you can still win by trying to get your healing back. If that was the case in DS I would have given up.
I will be getting LotF though.
$10 after a year? You must be dreaming. It is going to stay at full price for a year and half or 2.. Maybe 10 or 15% discount at Christmas and other sales.
I am hoping for expansions for the game.
Yup, I did the same. I beat Lies of P on GP and will buy it eventually. For now I saved the money for LotF.
In saying that if i was to compare the original LotF with lies of P i would say play lies of P.
The original LotF took everything bad about DS and amplified it like it was what made dark souls good, it wasn't and the game was terrible for it (pretty sure i didnt even finish it).
Going to assume this is different developers or at least people that learnt their lesson but not going to know for a few weeks, ill be playing it because it looks good but we'll see.
LOTF wins because of the unique 2 worlds/lamp feature no other souls game has done, plus the drop in drop out co op/no summons crap, and pvp. Lies of P was amazing, but its strictly Sp, so replay value is great for NG+ but eventually will get boring since your always alone. Elden Ring and even DS3 is still heavily played because of the co op and PVP.
Both games are aimed at 35-40 hours of Story + additional content. Both games are quite long and have a lot of content!
Both games are very good, high quality and are the best games in the Souls-Like genre, that didn't come from under the wing of FromSoftware. I pre-ordered the Deluxe Edition of both games and I couldn't be happier!
The art, music, and plot of Lies Of P are quite good. Apart from the combat system (which is just a piece of ♥♥♥♥), he castrated the performance of the protagonist, especially in the middle of the week, until the later part of the week and the second week, you will only have a gaming experience in combat. Of course, their project team has also updated various small mechanisms for player feedback, at least with a relatively sincere attitude.
But the reason why I chose both was because CI Games' other games made me trust them more. I played their Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts 1 and 2, at least to show that from 1 to 2, the producers absorbed feedback from the players and improved the gaming experience, rather than like Sniper Elite 4 and 5. Based on this reason, I trusted CI Games and chose to pre order.
From the real machine demonstration I saw, this game exploration would be quite interesting, but I didn't see any soldiers hidden behind the door or those hanging overhead when entering the room from the real machine demonstration
If you really want to choose, I suggest waiting for the release and fans to release the evaluation before making a choice. Because in my opinion, Lies Of P is a game that puts people in prison. Playing this game is equivalent to imprisonment and the sentence is very long.
