Best way to try new builds?
I don't see any point in creating a new character if you can just buy skill resets. Unless there's some actual bonus that you can't get in-game by choosing different starter classes?

If I want to go from a Radiant build to a full Fire build, use the skill reset, right? Is there a cap to how many times you can do this? Does it get more expensive?

I dont think there is any particular element that goes up in price or has diminishing returns of some sort when it comes to respeccing, but do note, the only source of infinite rebirths are from Plucked eyes, and they are...not common.

Make a local gamesave. Respec, try stuff, revert back to the local game save when you're satisfied

You can only buy 1 from the umbral merchant
I believe you can buy 1 from the depths merchant (though it's really easy to get this merchant killed)
and there might be 1-2 that are specifically placed treasure/loot throughout the entire game...

Once you run out of those, your only way to get more respecs is via plucked eyes.
You get 3 eyes per "lantern kill" and it takes 75 to get a respec.

UNLESS you use a Australian VPN, then you get 150 per lantern kill and it still costs 75...

EDIT:
In my playthrough I was able to respec 4 times, without the use of plucked eyes...
1 from umbra merchant, 1 from depths merchant (that easily dies), and 2 from specifically placed loot in the world.

Unless you started with the condemned class. The main bonus for starting a new character would be to pick a class that has the least amount of points in a stat you're not going to need. Since those points can be put in something you actually use.

In example. If you're never going to use magic, you wouldn't want to start with one of the two mage classes since that's about 10 levels you'll have zero use for vs putting those 10 points in Vitality or whatever.

I'd also like to know how many times you can respec. It looks like 2. But I think one of them is from a secret merchant you can easily lose forever.
