Does having a dagger in the off hand do anything for parrying?
I parried her quite a few times with the shield that my Preacher(?) Radiance spellcaster class started with.
I did notice that I picked up a broken sword somewhere that's classed as a dagger. I might have a go with that and see if it feels much better.
I've only had at her three times so far. Keep breaking to go do something else in between.
I'm curious exactly how daggers and small shields are better though.
Is it a quicker startup animation? Longer effective frames?
If a greatsword is slower to block after tapping the L1 button, that could potentially be good against enemies with slightly obnoxious attack delays.
I just found an Umbral Eye that deals damage to enemy upon parry (perfect block?) so I'm going to test it soon.
Heavier shield - harder parry but it can block more damage if you miss.
this
but the differences between light shields and daggers are not that great
normal/grand weapons and shields to light shields'n daggers is very noticable
i found the "normal" shield parry window more than enough, and you still got some mitigation if you actualy do get hit
