Lords of the Fallen surpasses Dark Souls
I played the original Demon's Soul on the PS3 back in the days and every FromSoft game thereafter. I don't think I been as immersed in those games as I am with Lords of the Fallen in terms of combat and environment. The graphics is best in class compared to any other game I can think of. The action is faster (Dark Souls is more methodical) and the level design and degree of verticality of the map is exceptional. Granted, technical issues are hampering reviews at the moment, but once they get those things iron out, I think this game is going to be a hidden gem. Great job developers!

It is truly a gem. I knew that after a few hours. its a feeling you get, like with dark souls. And this one is all up there with the champions of souls. some people cant distract from bugs and other issues, and thats okay, but i allready know ill put ALOT of hours into this game, so these (to me ) minor issues doesnt mean a thing. :praisesun:

Agreed. Too bad the game came out with performance issues, now sitting at Mixed because of that. Oh well.

I have to finish the game yet but so far it's a masterpiece in my book.

The graphic is a gen ahead of Souls and Elden Ring(other than physics) no question on that, Some aspect of it's combat are on par with souls. I'd say it's the first souls like game(haven't played lies of P) that almost rival souls. if Souls are 1, this game is 0.95, very close, but Elden Ring is the greatest game of all time, nothing come close to that.

I tend to agree. This to me is like if FromSoft made a literal DS4 instead of an ubisoft style open world game.

From what I am seeing on these forums, most people who liked the OG Souls games (Demon Souls and Dark Souls 1) like LOTF because it takes the best apsects of those games and puts its own twist on it. No other Soul-like game, besides maybe Surge 1 with its amazing dark sci-fi atmpohere/mystery, has gotten me so engrossed in the game then LOTF. It brings back the times of picking up DS1 for the first time and not knowing anything about it, and just slowly taking in the world, gameplay, learning the mechanics...etc.

If the performance can get to better state, I feel it will have a huge resurgence of new players at a later time, because what is here is at the top of the souls-like pile imo.

Yep. Dark Souls 1 will forever be the GOAT. It changed gaming forever. LOTF, while a great game, will never leave such an imprint. It is a shadow of it's inspiration.

This. OMG I really hope FromSoft games aren't gonna be all open-world from now on. :shiver:

I would argue that is true but its a dang good inspiration, in a time where no other game has given me that Demon Souls Dark Souls 1 feel.

Agreed, game is insanely good
Better then DS1 for sure, DS 1 combat is just to slow and clunky, even more clunky than this game. To much space between bonfires, just not that polished and bosses are kind of slow and boring. I think many people like it just because of nostalgia.

I ob of the weird opinion that DS2 is actually not that bad, recently replayed it but ended my run in the late areas, the air was kind of out for me. The world is for sure better, the graphics are 10x better and I am a sucker for good graphics but its not all.

It is for sure NOT better then Dark Souls 3. The best FROMsoft game ever, better then Elden Ring boss copy session with a lot of open world filler stuff that is just boring AF when you happen to go do things over-leveled and you WILL be over-leveled for open world activities and beating some cloned boss that has no chance is NOT FUN. I mean I really enjoyed Elden Ring and I actually like even the open world stuff but at the same time it is just pointless and not balanced when you can just go anywhere there is no balance.

DS3 is the perfect Souls game, its a clear evolution from all their previous games, it has the best bossed BY FAR the best music, holy ♥♥♥♥ I am putting on some of it right now. Prefect pacing ... great DLCs ... this game has way to boring and way to easy bosses to come even close to DS3.

always gonna be a matter of taste
but yeah: Lords of the Fallen sits right next to Elden Ring and Blooborne in my collection
apart from the worldbuilding, design and presentation: something about the core gameplay just clicks more with me than even Elden Ring did

No. Just no.

for me definitely one of the few real souls likes that are actually able to capture the souls franchise and still have its own dna. Incredible work for a studio that is not fromsoft and the first thing that huge and soulslike we see from them. From has years of experience and these people pulled of a crazy achievement with this game. Of course it has technical problems two things are happening here, Unreal Engine 5 which is a mostly unexplored engine with a lot of hidden problems and a team that made an epic and vast game, without having years of records doing games like this. This is mad impressive. Its a studio that was founded in 2020 and doing only remote development. I feel like people ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ on those devs because the game lacks the polish of other studios that had much more time and much more experience as a whole just feels wrong.
