I have to finish the game yet but so far it's a masterpiece in my book.
The graphic is a gen ahead of Souls and Elden Ring(other than physics) no question on that, Some aspect of it's combat are on par with souls. I'd say it's the first souls like game(haven't played lies of P) that almost rival souls. if Souls are 1, this game is 0.95, very close, but Elden Ring is the greatest game of all time, nothing come close to that.
From what I am seeing on these forums, most people who liked the OG Souls games (Demon Souls and Dark Souls 1) like LOTF because it takes the best apsects of those games and puts its own twist on it. No other Soul-like game, besides maybe Surge 1 with its amazing dark sci-fi atmpohere/mystery, has gotten me so engrossed in the game then LOTF. It brings back the times of picking up DS1 for the first time and not knowing anything about it, and just slowly taking in the world, gameplay, learning the mechanics...etc.
If the performance can get to better state, I feel it will have a huge resurgence of new players at a later time, because what is here is at the top of the souls-like pile imo.
Yep. Dark Souls 1 will forever be the GOAT. It changed gaming forever. LOTF, while a great game, will never leave such an imprint. It is a shadow of it's inspiration.
This. OMG I really hope FromSoft games aren't gonna be all open-world from now on. :shiver:
I would argue that is true but its a dang good inspiration, in a time where no other game has given me that Demon Souls Dark Souls 1 feel.
I ob of the weird opinion that DS2 is actually not that bad, recently replayed it but ended my run in the late areas, the air was kind of out for me. The world is for sure better, the graphics are 10x better and I am a sucker for good graphics but its not all.
It is for sure NOT better then Dark Souls 3. The best FROMsoft game ever, better then Elden Ring boss copy session with a lot of open world filler stuff that is just boring AF when you happen to go do things over-leveled and you WILL be over-leveled for open world activities and beating some cloned boss that has no chance is NOT FUN. I mean I really enjoyed Elden Ring and I actually like even the open world stuff but at the same time it is just pointless and not balanced when you can just go anywhere there is no balance.
DS3 is the perfect Souls game, its a clear evolution from all their previous games, it has the best bossed BY FAR the best music, holy ♥♥♥♥ I am putting on some of it right now. Prefect pacing ... great DLCs ... this game has way to boring and way to easy bosses to come even close to DS3.
but yeah: Lords of the Fallen sits right next to Elden Ring and Blooborne in my collection
apart from the worldbuilding, design and presentation: something about the core gameplay just clicks more with me than even Elden Ring did
