Easiest way to kill Mendacious Visage
I hate this Zardoz wannabe and so should you. Here's how to kill him.

Open the back area of the boss room and then pull open his face with the lantern and hit his weak point with the poison spears. You'll need to reload your ammo a couple of times so bring pouches. Just kite him around until he dies. His ranged attacks can't seem to actually kill you but his melee can so use the infinitely spawning enemies to get rid of the wither health.

Each round of poison takes off a little over a third of his health and this is a lot easier if you open the area behind him and kill the ranged enemies so that his AOEs are easier to avoid. Be careful as there is a poison enemy that can hit you through the boss door behind the bonfire in the boss room.

Yes it's cheesing him but he's a nerd and does not deserve respect.

Now go forth and kill.

i didn't even know you can pull his face open. I just hit and run his backside where he is actually vulnerable till he open up himself

That's what I tried at first but my reaction times aren't the best. All the lantern nodes around the area are sort of a hint.

Open his face, roll through stomp attack, charged heavy attack, repeat.

He's shockingly susceptible to stagger. Not grievous strike but just being knocked out of an animation.

Yeah the crit does a pathetic amount of damage. If there's one big gripe I have with the combat it's that crits are not worth the risk of parrying or charging the lamp.

Not only this, but if he's already open and you soulflay him it will instantly stagger him. Then you can run up, backstab, often charged heavy twice before he recovers and backstab him again and repeat until he dies.

The chain backstab/stagger only works later against normies ones when you have a good enough weapon for it, but the soulfly on when he opens for an instant topple works on all of them near as I can tell.

Depends on the weapon.

Near the end I could reliably chain stagger and grievous a lot of enemies. Damage doesn't matter that much if they never get to stand up again (and the damage was roughly 2/3s of a fully charged heavy as well as 2 attacks).

Edit: The real power of grievous is that they fall on the ground. Where you can charged heavy them twice. Which often depletes all of their stagger bar again (might take a quick kick to make them fall). So you just give them a chain beatdown they can never get out of.

That area behind the umbral wall. Two (iirc) parasites you can pop during the fight to open it up and get to the higher platform.

Lantern noded? Are you telling me that there is a way to recharge them beside resting?

I believe those blue lumps on the wall generate both soulflay charge and withered health when you succ them with R1/RB

1.) open his face with your lamp pull
2.) two fully charged attacks with Eye of Loash equipped
3.) riposte

Done. Easy as 1, 2, 3.

Easy. Soulflay his inside face when his face opens and deliver a Grievous Strike followed by an R2. Repeat once and done.
