Just looking at playtime though, Elden Ring took longer to complete for me, in comparison to Lords of the Fallen.
Lore wise, I consider both to be rich in story.
Game mechanism wise... they both have pros and cons. I think you should check out some gameplay videos to decide whether its for you or not.
But if you want a more difficult experience I suggest Lords, simply because it has a learning curve not unlike your first time playing a Dark Souls game. You will die a lot, and that puts off a lot of players. But if you can persist and learn from your failures I feel you will greatly enjoy this game.
Elden Ring is a fine game but the change to pure a open world really took away that Dark Souls feel and watered down many things imo. With Elden Ring if you try to do everything on your first playthrough it will take you anywhere from 100-200hours but most of that content is optional and quite repetitive imo.
LOTF is more on par with Dark Souls 1 or 3 where the world is open ended but linear where all paths are interconnected to one another. This also means the game is a lot tighter and is generally less bloated then Elden Ring as far as content goes. I have not beat the game yet but I'm at 40hrs and I'm about to tackle the final zone of the game, so I would say 35-50+ depending on your skill level to beat.
I personally prefer LOTF 100 times better then Elden RIng because it bring me back to the OG souls games much more then Elden Ring. I would say if you interested wait for a few more patches just in-case because LOTF does have some issue, but Elden RIng did aswell on release but is mostly fixed.
If your willing to put up with some launch issues get LOTF, if you need to buy now Elden Ring is fun but I personally would still go with LOTF.
