Just 2, but it's seamless so they won't just disappear after killing a boss. Unless they decide to leave that is.

Co op is pointless in this game dude. if you join youre friend, you cant get stuff from hidden areas, chests.. bosses... like armor and weapons.. only the host can.
you are stuck with getting what little the enemies you kill drops on the ground.

You can take turns clearing each other's stuff and get extra experience and levels that way.
