Is that too much to ask?
Yep. I'm fine with invasions, but the co-op in Elden Ring was terrible and poorly thought out IMO. I understand the souls formula just fine, but I find it astounding that Fromsoft was so surprised by the community wanting a more streamlined, well thought out, and seamless experience.
This seems to have the best of both worlds. The co-op is supposedly very seamless, while still including invasions. It should make most everyone happy.
Yes, I understand that. It doesn't invalidate my statement, at all.
What a loser xD
I understand the design intent, but it's not implemented well. They essentially didn't modify their design at all when moving from the node/spokes approach of level design to the open world level design they landed on. The design intent is telegraphed well in Dark Souls, it was not telegraphed well at all in Elden Ring. Coupled with the marketing around the game that quite literally expressed the system as "co-op", player's new to the series were lead to have very different expectations. Those expectations were not met.
The only real change they made to the multiplayer in Elden Ring, is to make invasions less prevalent. Truth be told, the invasions in Elden Ring feel like an afterthought; something thrown into the game because their existing playerbase, (now the minority), expected them to be there. I would be very surprised if a sequel included invasions at all.
EDIT: Just a reminder, I don't mind invasions. I don't have strong feelings about them one way or another.
