Do weapons among weapon types have unique attacks?
I liked playing the original Lords of the Fallen but I thought it was very lame that, for example, you find a sword. You play with it for a while and learn its moveset. Then you find another weapon of the same type, also a sword. It has different stats, looks different but performs exactly the same in terms of moveset.

Does this game also have this problem or are weapons different among their own type?

Thanks for your time

Move set is the same for every weapon in a given category. There are certain weapon that have special effect, e.g. on-kill effect, but their move set is still the same.

In addition to what Baron01 said, there are no unique powerstance movesets per weapon class. You can powerstance any two weapons and I think there are broader power stance movesets per weightclass (maybe one for daggers, one for normal sized weapons like short swords (= straight swords in this game) and hammers, one for bigger weapons like long swords and one for grand weapons), but the movesets will not be different when you e.g. powerstance axes vs. powerstance short swords.

There are, however, unique secret special moves on a few weapon combinations when powerstanced, but they don't work right out the gate, you have to jump through some hoops to enable them.

Oh, didn't know that. Could you elaborate?

The multi-attack move you get when pressing heavy attack + block (so R2 + L1) is different for these.

For example: If you get both the right-hand and left-hand Lightreaper sword, powerstance them, upgrade them to the max and (this is the hoop) completed the dark crusader questline, you get an attack similar to one of the Lightreaper's attacks.

You can see the animation on the wiki: https://thelordsofthefallen.wiki.fextralife.com/Right-hand+Lightreaper+Sword

Pieta's Sword and Elianne's Sword also have a similar mechanic when powerstanced with each other (with a different trigger, I think it involves the "odd stone" you can show Pieta). There are probably more combinations like that in the game.

Thanks! How did you find that out? Are there any hints in the game I missed? I wondered what the odd stone was about, but I don't want to look up the wiki all the time.

sadly there is no sense in having any unique moves if pvp is broken.

I didn't find out myself, I read it somewhere. No direct hints in the game, only that it seems kind of natural to powerstance these swords and that the dark crusader quest is related to the Lightreaper. Seemed to me more like something you might stumble upon by accident.

There are other paired weapons, e.g. the bringer of left + right stillness swords or hallowed praise + hallowed condemnation, but I haven't read anything about unique moves for them, but maybe they exist and people just haven't figured out the triggers yet.

I mean for the two weapon sets, the left/right handed Lightreaper, as well as the left/right bringer of stillness, it makes sense. Get one of each, put them in the proper hands, and do the thing.

If there IS one for Pieta and Elianne, its probably based on the story for the Umbral ending(Elianne being the boss of the Umbral Ending) and might deal with their hidden lore on the items.

I mean, if you look at the weapons themselves, both Pieta's and Elianne's weapons look extremely similar, and they have a ton of things in common with their backstories. Trying not to be spoilery, but the Odd Stone, Elianne, Pieta, and the Orphanage are all tied together. So it makes sense that their weapons could work together in some fashion.

I have also heard talk of all boss weapons having a type of unique thing they each do, hence why every boss has a weapon, even bosses without weapons(Congregator of Flesh has a spear...for some reason)

Guess I should pay attention to the story bits then after all. Ah, but that way of story telling is so tedious. One wrong decision and you cannot progress them and you only know afterwards ...
