It's not difficult to grind. Just incredibly tedious, since every attempt needs a pointless 5 minute wait.

Remove any Dread resistance ring, amulet or Eye, which should reduce the waiting time. Also, one Scarlet Shadow spawn for the first time and is killed, its respawn timer is shorter than the original wait.

It respawns much quicker after you kill it the first time, it only takes about 3 minutes for it to pop up again. Reduce your dread resistance to make it even faster while you're first filling your eye

It's been spawning what seems like a minute after entering the Umbral lately. Comments above has me wondering how much we do impacts the waiting times. Mainly because I changed my equipment today and it seemed closer to 2 minutes. Thought it might be an area change. Was wearing what we need for the Halloween event. Normally rock'n' the Lightreaper set.

they should add, like, "cursed" runes or something. Decreases dread resistance but you do more damage when the scarlet shadow is around, things like that

Could also add an item you can consume to instantly call it.

Make it cost one scouring or something.

Either way, boiled down to farming it in the starting boss by slapping it once with fire hammer when it pops up and sprint...

To safe lifetime and nerves, there's a way to temporally raise the drop rate (a *.ct, google) and gone is the incredibly tedious waiting time, and the great playing is back again. Don't stress yourself too much, just do something about it and stop complaining about normal game mechanics. I use such a tactic for small parts of games, that are too grindy for my taste or just have a bad passage, but are otherwise great. Using it for the full game would ruin it for me, but after trying it a hundred times, why not?

As a tip, use this one findable eye in your lamp, so that Umbral is aware of your presence and enemies fear you and won't attack you. This eye is nice, yeah, but I have noticed, it also very much speed-ups the white line around the UI eye indicator. I have way more time in Umbral (until the red rag comes) without this eye. Seems to be just the right item for your task, also for the fight against the clout, as the spawned minions won't bother you much. ;)

True u can find Marcos umbral eye. it speeds up the spawnrate verry much if equipped in main slot

Yeah, I wanted to farm for the rest of the items which Molhu sells, but I can't because the constant waiting for the red reaper to appear is just too long.

Either just give me 10 or more of Umbral Scourings for killing it or give me an item which can be infinitely bought from Molhu to give me one or more of those eyes you need in order to spawn red reaper.

It's that simple.

If you want to just farm Scarlet Shadow, get into Umbral and wait for the first spawn. Kill Scarlet Shadow, loot items and experience, exit the game to main menu and log back it. Scarlet Shadow should immediately respawn and red glow should appear immediately upon loading back to the game.
