i just did judge cleric on ng+ and dropped this Thorned Chalice
what is used for ? special ability of a weapon?

To my understanding it was related to a quest. According to a wiki I have been using to try and 100% the game it drops if you talked to Thehk-Ihir at every point he goes to (you still get it if you traveled to every point even if he wasn't there, I learned this because I still got it even though I missed talking to him at two places but went back to those places before the boss fight).

"To further progress Thehk-Ihir's quest, all that's left to do is to reach The Empyrean where you will fight Judge Cleric, the Radiant Sentinel. Pick up the x1 Thorned Chalice after the fight. You will receive a notification saying that Thehk-Ihir has now disappeared from the world. Return to the Monastery and head outside on the other end to reach the overlooking spot. Cross over to the Umbral Realm to gain access once you see the broken tower, then stay on the main path. Make a right when you get inside, then left to pick up the following items on the upper floor of the Monastery at The Empyrean, overlooking the Cleric's arena:

Failed Pilgrim's Gloves
Failed Pilgrim's Garb
Failed Pilgrim's Hood
Failed Pilgrim's Leggings"
