2h does more raw damage and let you have a shield ( for runes bonus like mana regen ) but dual is faster and better for weapon proc ( bleed , burn , poison etc )

some weapon set have unique special move set ability when you max upgrade them ( like wielding both lightreaper blade , pieta+Elianne sword etc )
Dual wielding do more damage for sure of the three mode, but it is very clumsy to use, starting from long sword to grand weapons. Your dodge windows can be smaller and you might get hit, the heavier the weapons. Weapons classified as short sword on the other hand do good damage and are really fast in this mode. With a better dodging windows compared to heavier weapons, but if you were to hit the wall, regardless of the size of the weapons, it will bounce and screw you over in tight spots.

2H obviously does more damage then 1H and that includes posture damage. Your attacks doesn't or at least don't bounce as often when hitting walls or objects.

1H simply has the advantage of the option of carrying a shield on the other hand. Your attacks will still bounce if you hit the wall. Move set of attacks also differ and some weapons seems to be faster or slower in one hand mode.

dual wielding great weapons seems to be the best for pure raw damage, but weight plays a huge factor.
Unless you can go into NG+ and get 2x no weight/stat req runes for the 2x great weapons you will likely be fat rolling your entire run.

2h is to slow but has the highest aplha dmg and you have much more space in range what helps alot avoiding hits. stamina managment will be harder here because your attacks needs much more per hit.

1h long sword, is for me the best option, good range, good speed and good alpha strikes. realy handfull in movement. you can wear more armor and a shield because of the lesser wight then a 2h. you can run it easyli in both 2 modes. 2 handed with shield on your back, or 1 handed with the shield in your hands. depending what you need at the situation.
1h short sword looses all that pros and except lesser wight and faster hiting speed. for me no choice here.

Dual wield short swort has the best attack speed and deals good dmg when you can land some combos and prog your dots fast enaugh.
but you are very vulnerabel for big swing attacks from enemies and aoe dmg, you also get in droubel when there are to many enmies and you geting surounded or get stuck between walls.
Dual wield Long sword, havent tryed so far.

i guess it depends on how much you want, more flexibelity /DW) for the coasts of biger alphastrikes (2H/1H). also important is do you like more to parry and block /1H/2H) or more doding hits /DW) and at least how good can you manage your stamina, if you running to often to low when attacking (2h), that you cant dodge or parry wheen its neccesary, then you should choose DW/1H

Everyone only mentions those 2 combo's, have more been found already?
Because the lightreaper blades and the lightsabers were found on like day 1 but I can't find any information on any other weapon combo's.

If you know more about that "etc" then please do share.

actually theres a glitch with the runesocket system so you can infinitely dupe that rune or any rune so long as you don't take them out of the weapon you put them in.

if you can't get them out then how is that duping ?

so far i've been preferring shortsword in main hand and dagger in offhand. polearms main and sword in offhand works too though but too often you're stuck in animations then in high density areas

i dont know other dual wield special one but there is some special with unique item like the stick from the pilgrim that become a merchant. if you get ( and wear ) his armor set at the end of his '' questline '' and upgrade the stick +10 and pet the dog in skybridge the weapon cycle auto buff itself with fire , holy and wither damage. the cycle and proc is base on how many time you pet the dog ( to an unknown maximum )

Ever since I found out that Dual wield agility runes give +10% damage to BOTH hands, and it doesn't matter which hand has them, and they stack, and they stack with other runes in the SAME weapon...

Yeah, I've been using 6 dual wield runes for +60% damage to both hands
