Just why? What purpose does this specific boss battle serve outside of making us sweat for no reason? Who is this guy? Why does he have 3 dogs? Why is there another boss in his arena just hanging out? WHY DOES EVERY ENEMY HAVE A SHIELD!? ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, every time I come back to this mess and give it another shot I'm almost immediately slapped in the face with the reality that this game absolutely sucks.

yeah, that boss is ass, he made me use a radiant spell to get enough defense just to get rid of that stupid parasite, weapon on fire, ignore the dogs and just kill him as fast as you can, is not an enjoyable fight, I have nothing to learn from it, I can't sit there and say, look, I want to learn this guy, I want to parry him.

He is the literal definition of Tedium TM, trademark to be copyrighted.

I want the developers to give me better bosses and less tedium TM please.

You can cheese it by pulling the boss all the way to the entrance where you join the fight. If you hug the barrier, there is a tiny space next to it where the boss or wolfs get out of range of the parasite and can be killed.

If it helps, you can 1-Shot the wolves even with the shield on them. Requires you to upgrade and rune boost the weapon in many cases. That said, I fought it in Co-Op, so don't know how it'd go alone.

go on the left at start . wait for the dogs and boss to come . Just dodge all u can then dodge till to the parasite , use the lamp . kill the dogs . kills the boss . If you go in umbral ... its the end. If you re a melee player you need frost armor resistance and it s even worse in NG + If you have no frost resistance .Don t worry bro , this game gaves us a new kind of frustation in soul like you re going to love it lol

took me my first death to realise how hard this boss is, I think the most ass thing about this fight is that you have to run for three minutes to get to the boss if you die. I dont know about anyone else, but having to run for ages past enemies etc. Totally discourages me from learning how a boss works, cuz it just provides more punishment for dying. why couldnt they put a flower bed before the boss? can somebody answer that question for me, please.

It's not "hard" but very annoying and unfair.

1. You have to fight multiple enemies, including the giant head guy in umbral
2. There is an umbral parasite within the arena which complicates the fight even more
3. There is a big pool of water inside which slows you down unless you are in umbral

At least one of these things have to go to make the fight less annoying.

Don't fight him in Umbral. Use your lantern to get rid of his blue shield/buff. The dogs deal with them first while kiting that guy. Then he is easier. Do not go into Umbral, only makes it worse.

Also, I tried fighting this guy in Umbral and got my butt handed to me. Soon as I fought him in the regular world I beat him. Start the boss fight and go onto land on the other side and stay on the land until the dogs are killed. Also speck your armor for ice/wither damage and pop some buffs for that damage type.

You can destroy the umbral parasite right away when entering the arena if you enter in Umbral. Just use a range spell or weapon and hit it as you enter the arena. The boss takes ages to reach you since he does not run towards you. Ignore him while you 2 shot the dogs, deal with the Umbralfacething while still ignoring the boss since his entire moveset is literally 2 attacks and nothing else.

Took me some time. I did the same thing. I really wanted to get one of the Devs and just ask them "Why did you think this boss fight was a good idea?" I Almost uninstalled and deleted the game. Try this. If you can, equip the Poison Gas Grenade. Go to the left, bait the dogs out. Get over and focus on getting rid of that Umbral Parasite. Do your best to stay on the land, and drop the Poison Gas grenades. They'll drop a DoT in the area. Focus on dodging and healing. Keep your distance. Take your time. Focus on getting those dogs down. Once that's done, the Main guy will be all yours. If you can, ignite your sword(s) with some Fire Salts (Due to the Frost nature, I assume the boss takes more damage, I think. Could be wrong). Focus on dodging, and hit him once, maybe twice. then back off. Don't get greedy. Took me A LONG TIME(I'm a scrub and bad at these types of games). but I eventually got him.

I have no idea why people are struggling with this boss. He's one of the easiest bosses in the game.

The boss is fine I guess with the wolves too even. That said, the idiotic stoneface in the back is just another great example of how these developers have no clue how and when to place enemies. Or what a satisfying difficulty is.

Edit: What is funny though is, that the wolves are not even part of the boss encounter either. Cause if you run back to the zone they respawn.
Its just so poorly designed.

But yeah, pretty bs.
It probably should serve as gatekeeper for the zone after, when you bought the key too early. Underleveled, it gets pretty harsh.
