Why Are Axiom Enemies in the Umbral?
Is there a lore related reason why Axiom enemies persist in the umbral? I assumed I was like the Iron Wayfarer only appearing in one world or the other but both umbral and Axiom enemies aggro when your in the umbral realm.

Well you technically walk between realms instead of jumping between them

It makes no sense, I think it's just because the devs would've had to populate umbral with its own set of enemies, and since there are only like 5 different umbral mobs, they would've had to make a lot more.

But when you die in Axiom, you would be fully in umbral and not "between the realms", and yet you are?

What Solusi said. It reads less as you being in Umbral and more like you're between them, able to affect both, but as a consequence death is 'final' and Umbral fully claims you if you die between realms.

Not exactly, that's the lamp that lets you do get a second life like that. Other people dying wouldn't experience that without a lamp. Like you can see into the Umbral by shining your lamp, when you die it's like the lamp's power flows into you so you can see the Umbral all around you.

Those lamp you carried kind of binding your soul so it doesn't go directly to umbral everytime you died on axiom realm
This is why you can walk to a umbral path that otherwise unaccessible if your body is still on axiom

I figured this was part of the technical reason. It's less work to make every enemy aggro when you cross over instead of just the umbral enemies. This is especially true if the devs really did have to rebuild a mostly done game in UE5.

If the lore is that the avatar is constantly between realms why does the avatar need to transition to the umbral to fight umbral enemies? The game is fun but the logic of this mechanic seems iffy.

Because your character is actually still at axiom even when you fully transfered to ti umbral because of the lamp.
Lorewise, you will ended up become vestige if you died in umbral while carrying the lamp

Now that'd be a great idea. Have players who died in Umbral become actual vestiges in everyone else's game. I'm sure certain areas will be absolutely littered with vestiges of fallen heroes such as B0n3rl0rd69 and Motherlover23.

That feature would have been hell on the games stability, but I agree it could have been really cool.
