I don't know, I'm a thematic bastard so if the theme of the character/run is inferno, that's how it start largely when I do it.
Doubt there'd be many problems with your idea. A lot of the inferno upgrades I've seen are scattered about the world as well so it's not the worst idea.
Btw i wonder how long you can put off saving the tortured prisoner.... If you can put her off until after the spurned prodigy fight, you could use the searing accusation for a rather long time....
lord is great and fun to start with, gives a good inferno scaling weapon from the start that can be used up to the final boss, built as a self buffer, only issue with casters early game is mana, until you can buy the manstone ring, but that takes clearing 4 areas, and most of upper calrath.
- the staff is crappy / takes getting used to
- farm 1x ravager axe, there's another one at the start village. the crazy cultist lady also sells one -- dual wield these, they cause fire build up, and scale only with inferno.
- upgrade those to +3 or +4, it'll carry you a way.
- didn't bother with bloodlust, as didn't want to add agility
- for catalyst, i ended up using the one from the prisoner, once she gave it back mid/early in her questline.
- once you kill spurned progeny, get magma surge. hits like a truck and wastes upon enemies that range you like the abess caster, or sin bow women.
- fallen lord sword is obscene, but you won't get that until the burning place. a good alternative is grinning axe, and this'd be very good dual wield, if you're up for 2x runs or are a cheatyface.
The problem is, most of the good Infero spells are super late game. Inferno shines in NG+
From my rather short cultist run, the flamethrower really melts large groups. starting as warwolf then putting points into inferno for a strength inferno run would be fun, the end goal of that build would be to get the sword of the flayed, that at max level has an A in both strength and inferno.
For a straight inferno run, starting as a cultist and getting the fallen lords sword would be the best for min-maxing, no wasted points in strength or agility needed.
The only issue with not starting as a lord is not having the lords catalyst at the start.
Radiant is a lot more straight forward while inferno is a slow burn.....
