Hello everyone, i'm actually discovering this game, and i have something weird happenning, whenever i get to 20 population, every one of my games just end the same way, i get meteor into meteor until i have nothing left, and it is not because of me trying to destroy burn tiles or whatever, it is just my harvest dice that start to give me only skull dice every time, few times in a row, so i get meteor until i have nothing left and i don't understand how to not get this, and what to do when it happend, ty for any help guys

It seems as though it's by design that late games end in meteor, it get harder and harder to win by culture and wonder as everybody is producing a lot of culture and resources, troops feels like they're a specialized to pick off a specific structure like the storages, or even the castle in case a breach by a tsunami happens. As the game drags on and on, meteor and rng becomes the bane of pretty much everyone.

Yeah i agree with you. They need to lower the skulls on the dice some. I just lost my game to a meteor destroying my castle. Takes the fun out of the later game.

What i don't understand more is IA never getting it, they make easily a few tsunami per game but never meteor

I will agree that there is a severe issue with meteors in any game that runs long. However, I think it's just part of a larger issue to do with the game balance.

Namely, right now it feels like there is only one way to win the game. That way is to rush an early Cathedral, support it with a few churches, use those churches to boost a second cathedral and then fortify your position with towers and barracks (to produce troops you don't send out on raids). From there, you see your Culture slam through the roof until you win.

If you haven't won by the time that you are looking at needing a second Storage to ensure your dice are fed, then the game is absolutely going to win due to disasters RNGing a winner. As you can't even trust that you will win due to removing Sorcerers on your island because eventually you are going to get unlucky with needing to remove 'disaster' blockers on your island the same 'turn' you rolled a lot of skulls.

Because I have had a game where the second meteor (I'd angled to spam the AI with a lot of House->Sorcerer's Tower disasters) that hit an AI took out their castle. They hadn't even been hit by a single tsunami either, so there was abundant terrain that the meteor could have hit which wasn't covering the castle.

And it's very much a 'win fast via culture or pray the disasters RNG in your favour' because I've been trying to win via troops beating down the enemy until you can take out their castle and... Either I hold back on grabbing the early Cathedral, which means I can't get the troop upgrades for a long time, and the enemy wins via Culture whilst easily killing my troops as they raid or I grab the early Cathedral, am able to grab the troop upgrades without causing one of the AI to win via Culture and then win via Culture myself.

Or you know, get screwed by RNG which means I can't build either Barracks or Church+Cathedrals in the needed amount and the enemy keeps killing my buildings for loot whilst I struggle to stay in the game. But that's RNG for you, some games just don't work out, like my last one.

... Hell, now that I think about it, that last game might have had one of the enemy AI that were in the lead with Culture get really lucky, summon a Meteor and have it land on their castle despite being the first one that hit them. And they'd only been hit by a single Tsunami in an out of the way corner of their island before that.

So yeah, there needs to be a bit of fine tuning done where Meteors land so they aren't quite as much of a 'Pray to RNGesus you don't get unlucky' loose condition considering how easy it can get to summon a bunch of them, whilst also making it so Culture is less strong early game at the same time as it's stronger late game.

Going to be fiddling with my 'build strategy' to see if I can actually pull off a Wonder or Domination victory. But so far it's looking like either of those is only useful if you have gotten lucky with the disasters whilst the enemies haven't yet those same enemies also haven't gotten so unlucky as to lose their Churches and Cathedrals and can keep fighting you there to prevent you easily winning that way.
