Hello,

I will need a bit more information that what you have given because we have had a lot of human error with the animals,
Were they linked correctly to the coop?
Is the door open?
Is there an enclosed fence around the coop?
Did you have any notifications about them in your daily report?
Do you see any of their green dots anywhere on the map? (long range not just local to your ranch)
If they were linked correctly what does the coop tell you are linked to it? i.e 3/6
The doors are closed.
I didn't have an enclosed fence around the coop.
I didn't think about notifications either.
No green dots on the map.
But now that you've offered a few tips, maybe that has something to do with it.
Yeah, some times troubleshooting can help find some surprising oversights. Let me know how you get on.
I've had that happen a few times. I think only specifically with the rooster for me. But restarting the game has fixed it each time.
Could be coincidence, but mine disappeared after selecting the subway multiplayer ticket by mistake (which there's no way out of, would be nice to have a confirmation since it makes you end or restart a day).

They're fenced and previously I would only see 3 outside during the day but all 4 would be in the coop at night and in the morning so I could still pet them.

Then I clicked the multiplayer ticket by mistake, chose to save the game before leaving then reloaded my game. Went straight to the barn as I'm working on the 2 large egg quest and there's no chickens anywhere. Finished a day and they never appeared inside or outside. Reloaded the game, still no chickens.

The coop still says 4/6 animals. No dots on the map. I didn't completely surround the coop. Just a 3x2 box with the front of the barn making part of the fence.

Also my friend bought 2 chickens. Put them down inside the coop. One immediately disappeared and he hasn't seen it since. His are also fenced. Do they clip through the ground and never reset maybe?

EDIT: Played a few days more and got a notice that they died from their ilness.
Happens to me too all the time. I've been unable to finish the quest where she wants 2 large eggs because of this. So far I've spent over 30k on chickens! And they keep disappearing. The area is fenced in, doesn't matter if the doors are closed or open, they just vanish.
oh damn.. So a fence doesn't help either.
yeah I, too, have spent a lot of money on chickens.

Hello,

Yes, just like in real life, animals can die of heatstroke/hypothermia in a day if they are not treated by a veterinarian so if you notice they are sick from thermal illness and you buy the heater system you still need to take them to the vet to cure the current illness and then the heater will prevent future thermal illness.
after 3 hours of playing with dissapearing chickens, i noticed that
1. when you bought a coop/barn you need to buy the aircond as well. if not your chicken will sick (heat stress) and die the day after (dissapear)
2. when you open the coop door, you need to put hay and water outside the coop within the fence (assuming you close your coop with fence) if not your chicken will die from starvation. they didnt eat inside no more because they will go outside all the time
3. after all these precautions were taken care of, my chicken was never dissapear anymore.
4. everytime your animals are sick, go directly to vet because it will take you so long to carry them 1 by 1 to your car boot. settle your farming later, cure animal 1st

hope this helps with the issue chicken dissapears

i had the same conclusion, they left the door open and no fence, but i had 2 of my 6 hens dissapear too, the barn still shows 6 of 6 so they are there but not there? i wouldnt care, tbh as long as they produce eggs, but cant pet them if you dont see them. I exited without saving and when i re-entered the game they were back. so now, my daily routine is pet the chickens (dirty minds) then do my other chores, so i dont loose a whole days worth of work.

as for you last two questions, i myself didnt recieve any notifications, that i noticed. I didnt even think to look for green dots.
Great discussion. I also ran into this situation during my first few hours of play, but now I fully understand the mechanics. You need to put the chickens in the coop and install the heating and cooling system (it heats in winter and cools in summer—look for the fans inside the coop); you also need to enclose it with a wooden fence. The coop doors must be left open during the day so the chickens can forage outside—that way, they lay large (L) organic eggs. After many hours of gameplay and reaching Year 2, I managed to get 3 rare small eggs; it's quite interesting.
