So what happend with the Kickstarter Money? Real-Talk
After i did some research, which isnt that difficult, i saw...this "Game" made over 250k €
The Timeline on the Kickstarter Page couldnt even be more bonkers.

Talking about starting development back in 2016...with an Early Access Release in 2023 and also a Final Release in 2023?

Now we have 2026....Yes we got the Early Access...but does anyone really think this could be all done in Quarter of a Year? Lol

Also what happend to RedPilz Studios...suddenly the Developer is "The Ranchers".

And then after all that Money on Kickstarter...You still want 25€ for this Alpha?

And this post is not ment for trolling...i am just curious..thats all.
Also i will already say...No thanks to that plan of adding Combat and Monsters to the game! Mining? Sure! ...But i dont need, in a i think present world like in the game, any Monster sh*t.

IMO 25 bucks is a bargain today for a game offering hundreds of hours of entertainment when a lot of AAA games with under 50 hours of content are going for $70.00 to $100.00 each plus lots of paid dlc.

GTA 6 pre-order cost me $99.99 plus tax and it will probably cost me another $99.99 when it comes to the PC so $25.00 is a steal.
they bought marketplace asssets to put into the game ... honestly disappointing
You compare a huge open world game like GTA6 which is even graphic wise centuries ahead of a game which is in development since 2016...took a huge amount of Crowdfunding money into nirvana with a game like The Ranchers....Tell me how lost you can be, without telling me how lost you can be lol.
Seriously... Yawn.
Oh, come on... of course you’re trying to troll here. But fine, let’s play along.

The Kickstarter was successful back in August 2022. So, pretty much exactly four years ago. You can forget about that 250k figure right off the bat, as a rule, the developer ends up with less than that. For instance, some backers might provide credit card details that, for whatever reason, can’t be charged. Then Kickstarter takes its cut, and taxes have to be paid, too. Plus, I assume Ethan outsourced some of the work to freelancers, and they need to get paid as well.

Let’s assume Ethan actually ended up with 180k. Spread across the development period, that works out to just over €3,700 a month.

And yes, it’s truly outrageous to then go and charge money on Steam. I love how the intellectual lightweights always whine about capitalism whenever it does exactly what capitalism does. I’m pretty sure you don’t go to work for free, either.
Well well well what do we have here a so called financial expert? One who knows the world of money better than the wallstreet experts lol. Marcus trying to tell everyone how Kickstart works, how the Dev worked and wasnt even a kickstarter on that project. So Mister smartypants...then tell me...What happend to Redpilz Studio? And even when it was less than 250k ....You really believe this is all in this game? I really expected more of a german fellow...but standards these days getting lower more and more...just need to read your Review telling me how low yours became.
It’s cute how you’re trying to be provocative here. I hate to disappoint you, but I’m not even going to stoop to that level.

As for my background knowledge: I’ve backed plenty of projects on Kickstarter in the past, so I’ve looked into the subject, and there have certainly been developers who were more or less open about how it all works. Game development has always fascinated me, too, so I have some background knowledge in that area as well.

I realize that’s hard for someone like you to grasp. It’s much easier to just throw out claims without giving them any real thought first. And since I can already tell you’re neither interested in a serious discussion nor have anything meaningful to contribute, I’m done with this topic.

You make some assertions here so I want to understand your thought process. What makes 250k a large amount of money for the development of a game for this scope? What makes the timeline on the kickstarter bonkers? You mention development starting in 2016 and then early access in 2023, but the kickstarter was in 2022. Before then it was just a guy working on a hobby project before expanding to Redpillz studio. Is it bonkers because he started as a passion project? That is pretty typical of many smaller indie studios as they try to build their dream game until ultimately needing support and to expand. Need to have a proof of concept to sell it and all of that.
As for the game itself, its definitely not an alpha. Alpha's are much rougher than what's on offer here. Its more of a late stage beta at this point which matches with the version number in game .8 . Meaning it has most of the things but is buggy and missing some elements.
For me, the scope of the game, and the quality and variety of what's on offer, its easily worth $25. I almost kickstarted it for much more back in the day but it seemed like such a ambitious idea that it would never be implemented. I'm really blown away to see it come this far in such a short time, I find amazing.
Do you actually get paid writing such a crap. Holy Sh*t.
So you think for a single Person ...250k is a small Amount of money? Seriously?
Well look at the 1 Person who made for example Manor Lords. Did he had such an amount? Nope. Why? Because he is one who put passion in the game...and all of his time. And what happend...The Hype was there...The Steam Charts spoke at release day for the game...180k Peak. (even though different genre).
And if you wouldnt just juggle with assumptions and just check the Timeline on the Kickstarter Page you would see whats so bonkers. This dude wanted to go already in EA 3 years ago and in the same Year even into Full Release. And now even 3 years later all you guys are cheer for is a Semi baked Alpha.
You and that guy above could really go hand in hand, like "Me can drive bike and car, me like game" ....another low standards bob...

Ok, so you are trolling despite your claims.

Cropia is very similar in terms of game genre.
It's cheaper, has more content, and its own unique art style.

Why is it more expensive here with Asset Flip?
Single player, no combat, no crime gameplay. Needs variety to distinguish itself.

It took me just under five minutes to find the assets Cropia uses on the Unity Store. I don't even fault the game for that, it's perfectly fine. But accusing one game of being an "asset flip" while celebrating the other is... well...
