tool navigation on controller

I'm watching a streamer play with controller and noticed he has to go into the menu to change the tool he's using each time. How do tools work/tool navigation work with the controller?

Hello,

With the controller you press right on the D Pad and then you can scroll left and right across your hot bar with the D Pad buttons to select the tool you want then press A and it will bring up a popup with options to equip/move/throw which you can use the D pad buttons up and down to navigate and perss A to confirm your choice.
