Darwinia

A glitch prevented me from ending the game.
I have around 15 hours from having to replay some levels because I couldn't move my save to another computer. I finished a couple of hours ago the Temple level and was hyped about finishing the game; the ending starts to play and the programmer takes you through the other levels while he talks about the whole experience.

Right when he says that souls which couldn't be retrieved were lost for all eternity and for that reason the Darwinians understood the meaning of death now, my game crashes. I thought it was rather fitting and thought that game just ended in that severe, weird way. But suddenly I see other screenshots and another level with a spaceship (which I don't think is a mod; I saw a video where the programmer allegedly gives you full access to the world because he needs help) and now I've been apparently locked out of the ending sequence.

So, does anyone have a fix or and idea for this issue? I think I used to have an option to play the prologue but now I can't see the button in the menu. I won't play the whole game again, or maybe I will though it would be pretty inconvenient. I can't think of a way of finishing without reinstalling the game, though I wouldn't want to lose all my progress.

Thanks,
Felix.

Hi Felix,

The temple is the last level of the game. Indeed after finishing this level, you gained access to all worlds that you already visited, as well as to a level editor. However, the level editor has been broken for a long time (possibly even before the time the game was released on Steam).

As for a spaceship level, I don't recall any. So in short, I don't think you missed that much.

Thanks for the reply! I decided to replay the game to be able to experience the ending. Bought it because of a memory from my youth, so it was important for me to end it properly. Didn't see any spaceship level (I guess it was a mod), but the profile for "full access" is neat.

A bit late now, but the spaceship level is the prologue, selectable from the main menu

The spaceship is indeed in the prologue, which you can normally access through the main menu after the game has started.

Depending on which build you are using, and your system... glitches abound. In my most recent build, I had no problem getting the ending to play through, but afterwards the sandbox broke my game and I lost the option to play the prologue (or any level) too. I haven’t re-installed yet, but when I do - I’m going to skip the sandbox for now. I don’t know how to fix what you have without losing your progress, but If you just want to play the “spaceship level”, try re-installing and look for the prologue after you start playing, it isn’t dependent on finishing.
