imagine if town of salem and among us had hot steamy sex

I'm a huge fan of Town of Salem, and the genre it spawned. Its the most well known of that wierd social deduction genre, and definitely the most fun.

ToS is an old game though, its badly in need of an update. A new engine, all the QOL features that throne of lies had, and a less divided community without all the extraneous unplayable modes

And here's a new salem game
This seemed like a no brainer, its town of salem 2 right?

But its not. It isn't anything like that at all. It tosses out most of the deliberate, strategic gameplay, in favor of rapid action and accusations. Theres hardly any claiming or investigating going on, people just stab everyone else asap and win in 5 minutes. Instead of spending your time comparing notes and forming hypotheses, you're holding down movement keys and playing minigames, until you get stabbed

There's no wills or writing at all as far as I can tell. The investigative classes I tried were not exactly compelling, everything's dumbed down

But the worst thing of all, is that its not trying anything new. This entire game is just a shameless clone of Among Us, that hit meme game. Salem has abandoned its own identity in order to chase the tail end of a popular fad. Uniqueness and goodness sacrificed at the zoomercore altar


This is the kind of move i'd expect from an evil corp like ubisoft or EA. To see a small indie developer throwing their own work out like this is heartbreaking. My disappointment is immeasureable, and my evening is ruined

Would like to address the concerns people may have upon reading a significant amount of reviews that say the game is dead. The issue here is this: The classic rolelist is dead. The classic rolelist is the default, new player rolelist. A lot of people probably went here, saw no one, and thought the entire game was dead. In truth, most people don't like playing classic for various reasons. Almost all the players are playing custom. If you're a new player, go to custom lobbies instead, refresh a few times if needed and you'll find MANY more players. Hopefully this is helpful. The game is pretty nice overall.

Someone in the comments has informed me that this game has completely died. I can't confirm how active the game is and the above information may not be true anymore.

TLDR: This is TOS 2 meets Among us. It is much more fast paced and goofy (especially in voice) but has less strategic elements the original TOS had.

Long version:
The game has many fun or overpowered roles with a few weaker/boring ones but they're outshined by a mile. The background designs and map are in 2.5D, and are visually ok, a combination of old TOS and some fantasy cartoony stuff (I hope more maps are added in the future however).

The voice mode for traitors in salem is integrated seamlessly and actually fills in a niche that TOS was lacking (since text is a disadvantage alot of the time). Proximity chat exists and is pretty good however there needs to be individual sound bars for each player (some are loud af and some are 10 miles away from their mic). I have encountered very few bugs such as dc'ing mid lynch or game and then joining a new one can cause a weird glitch where all the game UI is messed up and you can phase.

Few Pros:
More roles than other Among us like games (and more roles than TOS?)
Lots of variation and customisation in games (However classic mode can become stale overtime with the same people)
Fun with strangers due to the voice chat option
For me currency has been seemingly easy to get (without paying irl money)

Few Cons:
Sometimes the FPS can be dodgy but I haven't felt it much
'Vents' are wayyy more risky imo (not actually a bad thing depending on your stance)
The 'cameras' aka telescopes are pretty strong...no indication your being watched
UI can feel clunky and slow at times (and the noise is hella loud especially for being lynched)

Needs:
Tutorial
A friend's list/way to add people
Individual player volume options
Maybe a proper dead chat to type in 24/7 while a ghost?
More task variation (not same 3 ones)
More gamemodes or some more traitor variation in the classic list
Jailor.

It's really fun, but it's a big mistake not to add neutral roles or more factions, since it's tons of fun having multiple different groups fight against each other, and that's one thing that made the first game really unique and fun.

dead. nobody is playing and you have to spend 5$ to even access custom games

I recently began to get back into Town of Salem, so I was excited to see that Traitors in Salem was coming out. At it’s core Town of Salem was a really fun game and I wanted to see how it could be blended with Among Us.

First I want to talk about some good things:
1. The GUI is really slick
2. The game design is really cool
3. The graphics are great
4. You have an option between voice and text chat.
5. The new character design is cool.

Also- some bad things.
1. Roles are either boring, or too over-powered.
2. There are only two factions, which makes it feel more like Among Us than TOS.
3. Text-only lobbies don’t fill up… ever.
4. Voice lobbies often ignore those who use the chat feature.
5. Most of the people who use voice chat are toxic or children.
6. There’s a lack of old favorites (All-Any, TT, VIP, etc..)
7. The tasks get boring very quickly, and they are often repeated.
8. There isn’t enough time to discuss, and you cannot argue the defense of whoever is being lynched.
9. Town Investigators don’t have enough to time investigate, and most of the time just incriminate themselves.

Overall, the game is addicting, but it’s way less skilled based and it’s more important to run around the map randomly than doing your tasks. It feels like a late attempt to revive an Among Us style game. I just wish there were more Town of Salem content, because it feels like it’s 90% Among Us, 10% Town of Salem.

"Traitors of Salem" possesses untapped potential that deserves recognition. While current negative reviews might stem from a limited player base, the game's merits shouldn't be overshadowed. Organizing games with friends or fellow enthusiasts on platforms like Discord can unlock its true charm. As a devoted "Town of Salem" player, I'm optimistic about its future, drawing parallels to brighter days. The call to "Make Salem Great Again" resonates strongly, urging fans to explore this intriguing venture. With the right support and a dedicated community, "Traitors of Salem" could yet rise from the shadows and shine as a worthy successor to its predecessor.

PLEASE have a friend group to play with before you buy this game. There are almost no players in the lobby right now, and there could always be a chance that it won't get a public lobby playerbase. I cannot play this game because i have no one to play with. It feels like waiting for Coven Ranked Practice in TOS.
