Hint, please?

I'm at 63% in the game and clearly I need a hint.

I have the orange orb (the other orbs are busy right now). It has robot legs and is following me around.

I need to get through two sliding doors/gates only one of which is open at any one time. There's a pressure pad which makes the nearest door slide close and the farthest door open.

Getting the robot legs to stand on the pressure plate (by holding the orb) doesn't help.

I was thinking that I could jump off the disappearing walkway and stand on the pressure plate, but then the robot legs walk around and find me.

I feel like I'm missing something obvious. Hints, anyone?

Hint: There is a reason there's a walkway above the pressure plate.

Answer: Walk slowly ahead of the robot carrying the orange orb, above the pressure plate on the walkway... and then when the robot is above the plate, take the orb from the robot so it stops moving. Then continue to walk forward towards the gates and the robot will drop down onto the plate.

This was my favorite puzzle in the game! Most of the game's puzzles weren't really puzzles so much as orders of operations. This one made me stop for a minute and think :-)

Pay close attention to the launcher in the top-left. Where its trajectory starts, where it ends, and what it flies over in the process.

Thank you for the hint, had no idea I can throw the orb mid-air.

This was the only puzzle in the game I got stuck on (played the Game Pass version), so cheers for that - did not even consider that solution as a possibility!
