how to unlock colorways?

i thought the way to unlock colorways was to craft a suit blueprint that had that colorway with it? so, say i got a metal suit blueprint with iconic bravo then crafted that i'd have the iconic bravo colorway unlocked but that doesn't seem to be the case

Suit colorways are mostly unlocked through challenges where you craft specific suits. These challenges will roll out as you complete more. Be aware, If it asks you to craft a legendary incendiary suit, you have to find the blueprint for exactly that, no other variation will count, such as team-up incendiary.

oh right. i saw a vid on YT about unlocking colorways, just to confirm how to do it, and the guy did what i thought which is why i was confused when it didn't work for me

Some colourways i understand are unlocked through the tougher versions of the boss fights and the heroic deep dive thing.

I have nearly 60 hours played in the game and still only have half the colorways unlocked. This was a terrible system to unlock these.
