I gave it a 5/10 it only get close to 4 because of the final sections of the game was really testing my patience but still keep it at 5.
Saints Row Reboot would be a 3 based on what Ive seen and the little I cared to try and play. But I'll play and probobly finish it when it comes to Steam.
Id probobly give BF2042 a 6 at the point its at now but it will never get anything higher since it missing so much stuff from the other games.
Its got the core fundamentals of a average fps and thats it with no content. I'm pretty sure as it is now its pretty bug free and it runs pretty good but still is missing a ton of stuff like I said.
Just no. that game is truly horrible and legitimately one of the worst games of that year. Worst in every way compared to the original 2 and was a technical failure since none of the destruction tech or cloud stuff ever happened. I don't think I ever been so disappointed and actually mad at how bad a game was put together, especially since it felt like the team behind it literally didn't give a damn.
I had fun with it, I would give it a 7 or 8 myself, if the 4 player horde thing coming has some progression attached and is decent, its a very solid 8 in my opinion.
- Crime activities are annoying and forced upon the player, also just hate this sort of thing in all these types of games. Cant progress without interacting with them which would be fine at the start just for introducing them into the gameplay loop but they decided to make them more important than they should be.
- Traversal is not good (only played batgirl so I can't talk about the others but on a creative level I think the other ones suck personally). Batgirl to be specific is like a weird imitation of Arkham gliding it just isn't right, it's almost on the level of Marvel Avengers design but not that bad.
- Batcycle just sucks to use, it should be fun and "slick" (is that the right word?). I want to be flying through the streets of Gotham not feel waited and tanky, also doesn't feel as fast as I think they meant it to be. That on-screen effect they use to show "speed" is really bad.
- Combat isn't terrible but it's not as interesting or expansive as I thought it would be. More combo related stuff and less ability reliance would be really cool. Dodging is fine but why is there not forward dodge over or under enemies? Batarang throw is super delayed and takes forever to fling out. Can't smoke the ground you have to use the weird grapple smoke instead.
- Movement is just downright bad, incredibly flawed and not precise at all. It makes every possible action so much harder than it should be and becomes extremely annoying. Jumping off of stuff is super finicky and can be straight broken on rail corners. The character turning is weird due to the animation making movement delayed. Also it makes the game feel almost on rails due to how weird it feels to move around. Sliding takes forever to stop and is almost uncontrollable.
- Stealth exists, it's nothing crazy or interesting and the animations take a decade to end.
- AI exists, is it bad not really but it's not amazing and due to how some objects work it can make them completely blind. Sometimes even in open areas they somehow can't see clearly that their homie is getting choked out next to them.
- This is probably a movement thing as well but I got stuck on things all the time. Like I have this running joke with me and my friend that I get stuck on door frames in every game I play but this was next level. I've never gotten stuck on so many objects in my life because the character just seems to want to magnet to things and has trouble moving off of them for some reason.
- Fast travel is sad, scan random flying drones to get fast travel like who did they get to think of that. Also why didn't they incorporate the collectibles into this so it makes it easier to find them within a given area as most games do.
- RPG mechanics just shouldn't of been in the game, what was the point of making it a looter game? It would be one thing if it was a complete copy and paste to AC rpgs but it's not and pretty much pointless. The skill tree is garbage and has some of the most random things I've ever seen in a skill tree ever. Also some of the abilities are locked behind crap challenges like why (the drone kills one was the worst). Mod chips never used them once. The loot itself isn't even interesting to look at or that different from each other.
- UI/UX is just bad in most areas you are looking at, the "share" button tap mission list overlay is overkill in the mid-section/later part of the game. So many tabs it's ridiculous, how many did they need to cram into that menu.
- The main story wasn't that bad up until the end of the Court of Owls (arresting the voice) after that I legitimately didn't care. Also I feel like the Court overall was a bit underutilized which is really disappointing. Starting and stopping with all the dumb crime activities was so annoying. My god Man-Bat stuff before you can finish the game was a nightmare.
- Side missions/bosses, like I said crime activities are garbage so those parts sucked but getting to the bosses wasn't so bad and some of it was cool. Clayface chase was pretty great and just seeing him in general was really cool with how they did it. Mr. Freeze stuff was also really nice to look at and the overall cartoony spectacle was fun. Harley was probably the weakest overall and not as interesting as I think it could have been. But the fights for all of them just sucked for being super underwhelming and plain lazy. Though on the reversal for Harley being the weakest thematically her fight was the best one out of them all.
- Characters are pretty good overall tho and the majority of the dialogue I liked.
I'm probably overlooking something or forgot some things I could mention but these are the main parts that stick out.
