Found the optimal Steam Deck settings
Found a way to make this game much more playable with over 45 fps. Not sure why this works better than low + FSR but it does.

Quality Preset: Highest
Anti-Aliasing: TAA Gen 4
Motion blur / chromatic aberration / DOF: Off

Dynamic Resolution: Off
Max FPS Limit: 60
Upscaling Type: Off
Upscaling Quality: Quality

Save these settings and restart the game, it should run much smoother after these changes.

So you disable Upscaling but select an upscaling quality level? That doesnt make any sense. You cant disable the feature and then pick the a level. It should be greyed out its just a bug in the graphics menu right now. Thats like disabling Anti Aliasing but then selecting 8x in the level setting.

I know how it sounds but I assure you it's still selectable. It even changes the render resolution from 100 (fully off) to 90 so you know the setting is working.

Not sure why the game is coded this way but it is.

Thanks for this. The game crashed on me twice and I’m gonna try out these new settings

I can’t confirm or deny if any of this is helpful or actually does anything. I will say that I’m getting 45 fps with his settings SOMEHOW so whatever

I feel like I'm missing something or you are running the game on Windows or something else. I have played with the settings for hours and I can't seem to get over 30 fps no matter what I set it to. Tried the same settings listed above and I'm looking at 25 -30 fps still. Are you playing as a different character in a confined area? I started as Batwoman and the area I'm in is brutal on performance especially when going throughout the city.

There more adjustments that what you mentioned, could you give a rundown of each setting?

I can't explain why it works but it does for me. I wonder if there's some weird ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ going on with the game's settings config and this helps it for whatever reason.

I'm playing on Steam OS, my fps does drop to around 21-25 at times but most of the time it's between 30 and 45. I'm not doing anything special and I'm playing in outdoor and indoor spaces. It doesn't make any sense but it does actually work for me. The only other thing I can think of is to regularly restart the game / Steam Deck itself.

Yeah, Ive noticed if you change ANY graphic setting at all, you have to restart the game. Changing a setting and going straight back to the game makes it run like hot garbage, but the reset cleans it up.

Tried your settings and it runs around 35 fps at the beginning but when the Batcycle portion started, it barely reaches 21fps. First few minutes got me excited to nothing. 🫠

Don't forget some may be playing on Steam Deck internal storage vs expanded so maybe that is the difference?

I'll take 21 fps at times over the 12 fps I was getting on low settings.

It makes no sense but the settings I posted work better for me than all lowest options.

Yea that's where I'm at and after that when you get to more open areas its like 20-25 fps with even more dips.

I have yet to come across anyone who enjoys turning these settings on... but devs still insist on implementing them.
NuM_Brrr_WoN Oct 22, 2022 @ 7:14pm
Settings still seem broken or bugged to me. Doesn’t seem to make any difference whether they are set to all low or all high. Seem to get pretty good FPS indoors, but the game really dips down into the 20s and teens when playing outdoors and seems to be about the same performance no matter what I adjust the settings to. I’ve also tried moving the game to my SSD instead of the SD card and found no difference.

Honestly, this is the best set of specs for me so far. I'm currently playing with my SD docked and it isn't even running too hard. Also, undocked I get a tad over two hours of battery life which is GREAT considering! Thank you.

Anybody tried setting a custom resolution in GameUserSettings.ini to something like 985x615 and used the Steam Deck's built in FSR? Might try that later.
