"Not enough free disk space"

I have 20 GB in my drive, and literally can download a 1.5 GB update to Teardown today. I tried clearing the cache, run as admin... still says "Not enough free disk space". WTF is going on man.

you need 40gb of free space for updates. a full hard drive is also not very healthy.

for unpacking purposes, yes. and again, a full hard drive is not healthy for your pc. it is recommended to have between 5-10% free space.

It's because it copies modified large files that are, in total, bigger than 20 GB from one place to another, then removes the old ones.

Seriously though, 20 gigabytes? Clean up my man.

Oh wait, it does!!!!

Game needs 45gb of space to install. You shouldn't be filling up your drive to the max anyway, it always needs space for temp files and moving data around.

You need enough free space to allow for the archive that the updated files are part of to be packed/unpacked...

C drive is about 96 gb. But yeah D drive is where my Steam commons are and it's 128 gb, and definitely needs a clean up. But i just had to uninstall some games before I can make an update. Thanks for the help though.

I understand khorne worshipers are the best at logic an all the "battle fueled madness" but you need to have enough space on a HD to have the free space for windows or anything to do it updating seriously. the "burn, maime, kill" mentality doesn't work when you don;t have enough space for something to unpack or move stuff.

This is why I keep separate HD for my games then another for windows/documents, hence invest in a larger hard drive even if not an SSD you savage, they make good HD with the same buffers that do the same stuff and they are very cheap for like for like 2-4 TB.

The game is compressed, you better have 100GB of free space at all times in any moment for unpacking a game file.
