Most of the time these redesigns don't really seem to do much. Remnant: From the Ashes had a couple of these "redesigns" and people still get corrupted saves.
If one values their time, they need to make sure to make manual backups and turn off Steam Cloud. Warner Brothers don't really have your back when it comes to this.
Alternatively, or additionally make a new bug report with details of your issue. Be sure to specify that progress was lost from gameplay after the 11/07 patch
Definitely a ridiculous expectation (Especially for an AAA title), but regardless, it's the only route forward for those still playing Gotham Knights and for those who value their time. Regardless of what's right or wrong, Gotham Knights can corrupt save files and that has not been really addressed properly.
If you've already purchased the game, the next best thing to do if you know these things is to manually backup your save files and disable Steam Cloud. One could (And honestly should) also voice their general disgust that they're forced to go through these things on the forums as well, I suppose.
first turn off steam cloud saving for gotham knight, go to your games library then right click on gotham knights > properties > general and then uncheck the ''Keep Games in The Steam Cloud'' option
then press win + r and type appdata, and go to local\WB Games\Gotham Knights\Steam\Saved\SaveGames\7656119921754 (the number of yours can different of mine) right click on the GothamKnights.sav file > properties and then go to Previous Version, it should be an older version of the save file, just restore it and then to the same to GothamKnightsBackup.sav, then ur save is restored
also make sure to copy those two files from time to time and paste somewhere else this way if it happens again (prob wont) you have a backup this time.
also do not enable Keep Games in The Steam Cloud again for Gotham Knights.
