Gotham Knights reset my game save :(

I have 36 hours into Gotham knights and was trying to 100% the game . I opened the game to notice all of my saves had been reset and I'm setting up the game as brand new. I tried to look via steam cloud save but have been overwritten and same as local save. I have lost all my story progress, and side missions and I was level 30 with legendary gear :( I am very upset about this! does anyone know any solution at all?

Seems like the redesign didn't help much, if at all?

This issue should no longer occur with the November PC Patch (11/07/2022) and the improvements made to the save backup system. Let us know if the issue persists by replying to this comment.

Most of the time these redesigns don't really seem to do much. Remnant: From the Ashes had a couple of these "redesigns" and people still get corrupted saves.

If one values their time, they need to make sure to make manual backups and turn off Steam Cloud. Warner Brothers don't really have your back when it comes to this.

? Respond to the WB comment on that bug report if you want to try to get their attention to look at the issue. No one has commented yet so they're probably not even looking into it..
Alternatively, or additionally make a new bug report with details of your issue. Be sure to specify that progress was lost from gameplay after the 11/07 patch

This has always been my thought as well. If you value your time in a game at all, the onus is on you to make certain your saved files are backed up regularly. Maybe not after every time you play, but at least every time you finish playing and you have something you earned that you'd hate to lose.

Seems ridiculous to expect players to backup their own saves, that's a serious game problem. But for games with known save issues like this one it'd definitely be good for everyone to set some cloud backup on the save folder with something like Google Drive or OneDrive that has version history so that saves can be restored if lost.

Definitely a ridiculous expectation (Especially for an AAA title), but regardless, it's the only route forward for those still playing Gotham Knights and for those who value their time. Regardless of what's right or wrong, Gotham Knights can corrupt save files and that has not been really addressed properly.

If you've already purchased the game, the next best thing to do if you know these things is to manually backup your save files and disable Steam Cloud. One could (And honestly should) also voice their general disgust that they're forced to go through these things on the forums as well, I suppose.

FOUND A WAY TO FIX IT!

first turn off steam cloud saving for gotham knight, go to your games library then right click on gotham knights > properties > general and then uncheck the ''Keep Games in The Steam Cloud'' option

then press win + r and type appdata, and go to local\WB Games\Gotham Knights\Steam\Saved\SaveGames\7656119921754 (the number of yours can different of mine) right click on the GothamKnights.sav file > properties and then go to Previous Version, it should be an older version of the save file, just restore it and then to the same to GothamKnightsBackup.sav, then ur save is restored

also make sure to copy those two files from time to time and paste somewhere else this way if it happens again (prob wont) you have a backup this time.

also do not enable Keep Games in The Steam Cloud again for Gotham Knights.

They found out about this and removed this feature now the game doesn't want to read my old save again and just decides to overwrite it when I put it inside the profile folder.
