I mean you can do your own clips in a round about way. I just did a couple tests for a TNG mode and they all worked. Just have to follow the same naming format/srt format as the vanilla clips. You'll a video editor to create your clips as well. The formatting of the srt file takes care of audio muting during the "dubbed" portion so you don't need to mute the actual video file in an editor.

Edit: Wanted to add that if you only want your custom clips to play you'll need to put the vanilla clips in a temp container folder and leave yours in the main VideoClips folder.

I recommend a tool like Aegisub for making srt files too. It's what I used to do all of the clips in the game

Workshop support would give this game such a massive boost. Themed "Clip packs" would be super popular. I'd also be down with licensed DLC clip packs, like $4 for a Star Trek The Next Generation pack, for example.

Absolutely, THIS. The possibilities are endless...

I made a web app for doing just this. Then it packages it in a zip you can unzip into your WhatTheDub folder.

Another really easy method of making clips is with the free application Kdenlive. You can do all your trimming from there, export as MP4, and even add subtitles directly on the timeline, which can be saved as SRT.

Assuming you already know how to make the srt file for a custom clip, you would just have to make sure that the [male_dub] or [female_dub] section of the srt file ends before the end of the clip. You can place the input section at any point in the clip for basically any duration

How does it work? How the game knows what part of the clip i want to mute and when the subtitles with the re-dub should show up? Could you explain step by step the process. I would be massively interested

This guy needs a metal! I know nothing of editing anything, I can barely cut videos into suitable clips, so this lil web app made my weekend!
