Including during the initial character creation process? Or do I have to find some sort of item in order to change my sex to male from initially female? I'm finding some conflicting info here and there!
As I recall, you spawn as a woman in the UE4 version (I don't think you select the sex before that, but I can't remember for sure). But you can immediately change to a man if you like (there are also some humanoid animal forms, but you have to unlock some/all of those through items or quests).
In the UE5 version, you start as a "formless", neither male nor female. Your body is completely wrapped and your face is covered by a mask. You eventually get a quest that lets you select a form, which can be a human male or female, or other forms (some of which will probably have to be unlocked through quests or exploring).
The "formless" thing is presumably how things will work going forward (unless they decide to change it, of course).
Which form? It seems that there is no male option for the demi-felian or crocodilian. I'm guessing that they just haven't added those to the game yet. The other forms all have a male option.
You can (at least, it works for me), but there are a couple of points:
1) After you select the sex, you have to click the "Transform" box. That's probably pretty obvious, but I didn't realize it at first.
2) The male option is slightly glitched. When I first select the female option with a male form, the character just kind of flashes and stays male (the model may change slightly). But I just have to click the female option again to change to the female form.
While I don't think that this is what you're talking about, I'll also just add that some species don't have male and female forms (yet), so changing the sex isn't an option for them.
